This Weekend’s Northern Sun Contests... Upper Iowa is on the road for the final weekend of competition prior to the New Year. The Peacocks will finish their exams Friday morning and then head north for a game against the Minnesota State University, Mankato Mavericks at 6 p.m. UIU will then head over to Marshall, Minnesota to face the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday at 4 p.m. All three teams are looking to jump start their NSIC seasons by earning some notches in the win column. MSU and SMSU enter the weekend with one conference win apiece, while UIU is working toward their first NSIC victory of the season. UIU’s lone win in NSIC play last year came at home against SMSU.
Leading the Peacocks... Whitney Kieffer leads the Peacocks with 13.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game. Jeri Jacobson is also averaging double figures with 11.9 points; the senior is also pulling down 5.1 rebounds per game. Jen Herrick adds 7 points and Ashlee Bailey is grabbing 5 rebounds.

This Weekend’s Northern Sun Contests... After winning their final three non-conference games, the Peacock are looking to snap a three-game skid this weekend in a pair of NSIC road games. Upper Iowa will face the Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato on Friday at 8 p.m. and then move on to battle the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Mavericks (2-6, 1-3 NSIC) enter the weekend just one game ahead of UIU, while SMSU (4-4, 3-1 NSIC) is coming off two wins against St. Cloud State and Concordia.
Leading the Peacocks... Tucker Wentzien leads the UIU offense with a 14.4 point average; the junior from Solon is also grabbing 7 rebounds. Sam Elgin is also averaging double figures with 10.7 points a game, while Jake Hughes adds 8.1 points and 2.3 assists per game. Six Peacocks are averaging at least 6 points per contest, while the team is shooting 43.6% from the floor including 36% from three.
