The #11 Peacock wrestling team had their run at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals in Cedar Falls cut short by the Bronchos of Central Oklahoma this evening in the final elimination match prior to the placing rounds. After posting an opening dual win versus the #8 seed Grand Canyon (20-18), UIU nearly upset the #1 team in the country as they led Nebraska-Omaha 9-0 and still were tied with the Mavericks 12-12 with four matches to go. The Peacocks missed out on their shot at the semifinals with the 21-15 loss to UNO.
UIU had to face off with the #7 seed Central Oklahoma in the day's final elimination match before the placing round matches tomorrow. The Bronchos entered the dual with UIU having defeated Limestone in the tournament's first elimination round just moments before.
For the day, Trevor Franklin scored 16 of the team's 48 points, while Kyle Pedretti also went 3-0. Bryce Lumzy and Zach Rosol both won two matches on the day, while Carl Broghammer and Mitch Schultz each claimed one win.
