Today in Peacock Soccer...
After a strong finish to the sixth week of play, the Upper Iowa Men’s Soccer team hits the homestretch of the 2010 season this week with just one mid-week clash scheduled against an in-state opponent.
On Wednesday, the Peacocks travel to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to enterain the Tigers of Iowa Wesleyan College. The first kick is slated for 3 p.m. at the East Lake Park Soccer Complex.
Upper Iowa lost their first two matches last week before exploding for five goals on Sunday against St. Ambrose. Junior Derek Oelmann record his third hat trick of the season while picking up goals 13, 14 and 15 of the season in the victory.
With 15 goals, Oelmann is currently tied for the NCAA Division II goals lead. He joins Tesho Akindele from the #1-ranked Colorado School of Mines and Erik Gutierrez of Washington Adventist atop the national leaderboard.
Scouting the Tigers
The Iowa Wesleyan Tigers enter Wednesday’s match with a 2-11-1 overall record. IWC has lost their last seven contests and haven’t put a “W” in the column since a September 12th victory over Illinois College.
The Tigers have been outscored 26-9 during this winless stretch.

The Peacocks are 3-0-0 against Iowa Wesleyan since transitioning to NCAA Division II.

The Peacocks and Tigers last met on September 23, 2009 in Fayette. The Peacocks defeated IWC 1-0.

Peacock forward Derek Oelmann recorded his third hat trick of the 2010 season last Sunday against St. Ambrose. The Peacocks defeated the Bees, 5-3.
The junior has tallied 15 of UIU’s 24 goals this season.
