Upper Iowa University Athletics

Amanda Nunez won her semifinal match versus Morgan Forsyth of Colorado State Pueblo Sunday morning, 6-2 and 6-3, to earn her shot at the ITA Regional Singles Title in Kearney, Neb.  In the finals, Vanessa Gunawan of Nebraka-Kearney proved to be too much to overcome as Nunez finished as the runner up following a 6-1, 6-1 defeat.

In singles action, Upper Iowa pushed three players into the round of 16 including Nunez, Karli Loewecke and Courtney Romer.  All three Peacocks won their first match on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals, but Nunez was the only one to fight her way into the semis.
In doubles action, Nunez and Nicole Pothen won their first match on Saturday to move into the semifinals over Alicia Holm and Nadia Khamis of Metro State 8-5.  The Peacock duo lost their semifinal match to Katy Lehenbauer and Paula Peters of William Jewell 8-2.

The Peacocks will close out their fall schedule with a pair of duals in Waverly this coming Saturday, Sept. 24.  Upper Iowa will face Wartburg at 9 a.m. and Cornell at 12:30 p.m.
