Upper Iowa University Athletics

Penichet went 4-0 and placed second at the Buena Vista Open in Storm Lake, Iowa over the weekend. The 149-pound redshirt freshman earned bonus points in three of his four matches, two by fall and another by tech fall.

Team:
-       Upper Iowa placed three at the Buena Vista Open, while posting a combined record of 35-24 with 21 bonus-point wins including 14 wins by fall, 5 by technical fall and a pair of major decisions
-       Two of Penichet's wins came over Minnesota State wrestlers including a second period pin of Brent Evans.  The redshirt freshman posted a 12-7 win in the semis against MSU's Daniel Close
-       Mitch Funk (133) and Nick Georgean (165) both earned 4-2 records to claim sixth place in their respective weight classes.  Funk claimed a pair of wins by fall (2:21 & 3:49), while Georgean got one pin (1:26) in his matches
-       Jordan Roths (141) and Zak Benitz (165) also posted 4-2 records, but did not place in their weight classes.  Benitz registered three bonus-point wins including a fall (2:47), a technical fall (15-0) and a major decision (15-7), while Roths had one fall (2:14) on the day
-       The Peacocks will open NSIC action this weekend with a pair of duals on the road.  Upper Iowa will face the University of Mary and Minot State University on Friday night at 7 p.m. and on Saturday at 2 p.m.
