FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa men's soccer (1-4-2, 1-4 GLVC) returns to Harms-Eischeid Stadium this week to face Maryville (Mo.) (5-2-1, 3-0-1 GLVC) and Rockhurst (Mo.) (3-3-2, 2-1-2 GLVC). UIU plays MU on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. and RU on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks went 1-1 last week. The team lost 1-0 to Lincoln (Mo.) (3-0-2, 2-0-1 GLVC) and then earned a 2-1 victory over William Jewell (Mo.) (1-6, 0-4 GLVC). The win over the Cardinals marked the first win of the season and the first career win for head coach Jeancy Matumona-Bau.
UIU lost to LU last Wednesday, after forward Makwe Nkoana netted a goal during the 67th minute of the game. Defender Arnas Kurakinas, defender Quirin Elias Haimmerer and forward Timur Nagy each took a shot during the last 23 minutes of the game, but were unable to capitalize on them.
Last Saturday, midfielder Pedro Campanha Buccini scored a goal in the 66th minute to to seal the 2-1 victory over WJC. Cardinals forward Daniel Pirllo netted the first goal of the game during the 23rd minute. Forward Benjamin Wendel netted the equalizer in the 42nd minute of the game.
Nagy had four shots with two shots on goal and an assist through both contests. Midfielder Matas Dumalakas and forward Jeremiah Goko each took three shots with one shot on goal. Wendel and Buccini both recorded two shots on goal and a goal.
Defender Nate Stauder, forward Sebastian Camargo, defender Kyler White and Kurakinas each took two shots. Goalkeeper Noah Nymark-Pedersen posted 12 saves.
GLVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nymark-Pedersen became the first GLVC Defensive Player of the Week for the program after his performances against Lincoln and William Jewell. His seven saves against the Cardinals tied for the most in a single game in his career.
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Nagy leads the team with two goals, five points, and an assist. He also has a team-high nine shots and five shots on goal. Buccini shoots a team-best 55%.
Nymark-Pedersen is first on the team and is tied for first in the conference in saves with 33. He also averages a GLVC second-best 4.71 saves per game.
AROUND THE GLVC
Drury (Mo.) (6-1-1, 4-0-1 GLVC) leads the conference with 13 points. Quincy (Ill.) (4-1-3, 3-0-2 GLVC) sits in second with 11 points, while Maryville sits in third with 10. UIU has three points and is ahead of Illinois Springfield (Ill.) (0-6-1, 0-3-1 GLVC) with one point and William Jewell with zero.
Cann Leo of Quincy has a GLVC-high 31 shots with 18 being on goal. Leo and Joe Wright of Southwest Baptist (Mo.) (4-2-1, 1-2-1 GLVC) are tied for a conference-most six goals. Wright also leads the league with 13 points.
Alex Smeins and Jacob Lusigan of Maryville, Alejandro Zuniga of UIndy, and Felipe Gilberti of Southwest Baptist have four assists. Asgrimur Vidisson of Maryville is tied with Nymark-Pedersen for the most saves in the GLVC. Jake Offerman of Quincy, Matija Blazic of Lewis (Ill.) (2-4-1, 1-3-1 GLVC) and Rick Lammerts of UInndy each have three shutouts.
Southwest Baptist leads the league with 147 shots and 83 shots on goal. The team also has a conference-high 28 goals and 23 assists. William Jewell posts a GLVC-most 47 saves, and Maryville posts a GLVC-most 19 points.
ABOUT THE SAINTS
Maryville went 1-1 last week. MU beat Southwest Baptist, 10-2, on Sept. 16 and then beat McKendree (Ill.) (2-5, 1-3 GLVC), 2-1, on Sept. 19.
Omar Cilic leads the team with five goals, 10 points and eight shots on goal. Smeins and Lusignan are tied for a team-high four assists. Asgrimur has a team-best 33 saves with a 80.5% save-percentage.
The Saints are coached by third-year head coach Adam Hall. He has an overall record of 107-66-40.
ABOUT THE HAWKS
Rockhurst recorded a win and a draw in its past two contests. RU won, 5-2, against Missouri S&T on Sept. 16 and tied, 0-0 with Quincy.
Tommaso Silano scored a team-best two goals. Troy Lor leads the team with two assists. Elijah Riese posts a team-high five shots on goal, while Blake Barrick posts a team-high nine shots. Samuele Neri totals a Hawks-most 11 saves.
Head Coach Tony Tocco has been at Rockhurst for 55 years. He has a record of 754-252-96.
