FAYETTE, Iowa - Senior goalkeeper Noah Nymark-Pedersen was honored with the GLVC Defensive Player of the Week award after helping the Peacocks win their first game of the season this past weekend. Nymark-Pedersen becomes the first player in program history to earn a GLVC weekly honor.
The Denmark native tied his career-high with seven saves in the 2-1 win over William Jewell (Mo.) on Saturday. He added five saves in the 1-0 loss to Lincoln (Mo.) on Monday, a team that was receiving votes in last week's United Soccer Coaches' Poll.
Nymark-Pedersen has allowed one goal or fewer in five matches this season and is tied for second in the GLVC in saves per game with 4.71. He is the third Upper Iowa athlete this year to earn GLVC weekly honors, along with Zamar Wise and Haylie Hutchinson.
The Peacocks have two home games this week at Harms-Eischeid Stadium. UIU hosts Maryville (Mo.) (5-2-1, 3-0-1 GLVC) on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. and then plays Rockhurst (Mo.) (3-3-2, 2-1-2 GLVC) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
