FAYETTE, Iowa - Peacock women's soccer (0-9-3, 0-9-1 GLVC) dropped its second straight match by a 2-0 score on Wednesday evening to Truman State (Mo.) (5-4-4, 4-3-3 GLVC). Truman scored both goals in the final 1:10 of the first half.
Giovanna Alexa Garcia led the Peacock offense with two shots on goal. She had the first shot of the game for the Peacocks in the 12th minute and the final shot of the game in the 90th minute. Aeryn Hatico and Ava Talmade-Anderson both had a shot on goal in the first half while Jessica Ancheta added a shot in the second half.
Freshman Suzette Orta totaled a season-high nine saves in her second career start at goalkeeper. Meghan Zwicker, Rhea Buchanan, Stephany Castillo and Ava Talmadge-Anderson played all 90 minutes.
On Truman's first goal, Julia Behounek put the ball down between two Peacock defenders to Lizzy Peng, who found Meghan Knust in the middle of the field for the score. The second goal came with a second left in the half as Behounek found Peng in the middle of the field, who skied a shot into the net.
TSU outshot the Peacocks 23-5 with a 12-4 advantage on net. UIU totaled 10 saves as a team to Truman State's four. The Bulldogs had six corner kicks, and the Peacocks had three.
Upper Iowa women's soccer honored the faculty and staff members of the university who mean the most to them for Faculty Appreciation Night. Every player wrote a card for their staff member, which was gifted to them at halftime.
Peacock women's soccer wraps up homecoming week on Sunday at 11 a.m. against Drury (Mo.) (2-5-6, 2-3-4 GLVC) at Harms-Eischeid Stadium. The Panthers posted a 0-0 draw to Rockhurst (Mo.) (8-2-2, 6-2-1 GLVC) on Wednesday night.
