HUDSON, Wis. - Peacock men's golf recorded a 10th-place finish at the Maverick Fall Brawl at Troy Burne Golf Club on Tuesday. Dylan Burns was UIU's top finisher, tying for 26th.
Burns shot 76 (+5) in round one and 78 (+7) in round two for a total of 154 (+12). He knocked in three birdies on Monday and one on Tuesday, tying for the team lead in birdies with four. Burns led the Peacocks in pars with 20, tying for the 24th-most at the tournament.
Jaxx Johnson, Bryce Yearian and Dawson Fuelling all tied for 44th place after shooting 160 (+18). Johnson tied Burns' second round with a 78 (+7), which featured 10 pars and a birdie. He totaled four birdies in the 36 holes, tying Burns for the team lead in that category.
Yearian shot back-to-back rounds of 80 (+9). He totaled three birdies, with two in the first round. Fuelling posted a 79 (+8) on Monday and an 81 (+10) on Tuesday. Yearian and Fuelling each recorded 18 pars.
Joseph Grau tied for 58th with a score of 166 (+24). He shot 81 (+10) in the second round with 10 pars. He recorded a birdie on hole six in the first round.
The Peacocks shot back-to-back team rounds of 317 (+33) for a total of 634 (+66). Both the UIU men and women each had the same exact team score on both days. The men were six strokes behind Jamestown (N.D.) in ninth place.
UMary (N.D.) took first place with a score of 590 (+22), edging out Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.) at 592 (+24). Bemidji State (Minn.) had the best individual round of any team with a 291 (+7) on Tuesday. The Beavers took third with a team score of 599 (+31).
CSP's Brennan Wickworth won the tournament with a score of 141 (-1), shooting 70 (-1) in the first round and 71 (E) in the second round. Minot State's (N.D.) Max Palmer and Bemidji State's Myles Jorde tied for second after shooting 143 (+1). Wickworth, Jorde and Bemidji State's Gavin Dahle (T-17th) had the lowest individual rounds of any golfer at 70 (-1).
Upper Iowa men's golf is back in action next week for the Concordia-St. Paul Jewel Invitational. Action takes place at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minnesota, on Sept. 21-22.
