FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa baseball (12-19, 5-9 GLVC) is back at Robertson Woods Field this weekend for a GLVC matchup against William Jewell (Mo.). The series is set to begin on Friday at 2 p.m. with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and a noon game on Sunday.

The Peacocks battled through rain and lightning delays in their two games against Lewis (Ill.) (14-17, 8-6 GLVC) this past weekend. The Peacocks fell 13-2 in game one and 6-2 in game two.Â
JJ Vargas, Jared Hoodjer, Thane Meiners and Gabe Bombardier each totaled two hits for the Peacocks. Hoodjer, Vargas, Meiners and Brock Zimmer each had extra-base hits with doubles.Â
Tyler Glowacki led the pitching staff in strikeouts with five in the second game. Dylan Hesch pitched the first 4.1 innings of game two, allowing two runs on four hits with three striekouts.Â

Meiners leads the Peacocks with 34 hits, equating to a .321 batting average. He also has a .424 on-base percentage and a .434 slugging percentage with seven doubles, one triple and one home run.Â

On the mound, Gabe Olson leads the team with a 5-2 record and a 3.24 ERA in 41.2 innings pitched. He leads the team in strikeouts with 38 while allowing a .272 opposing batting average. He is second in the GLVC in ERA and 16th in strikeouts.Â
Hesch has a 4.06 ERA in 31 innings pitched with 31 strikeouts. Hrncir has posted a 4.26 ERA in 25.1 innings pitched with 32 strikeouts. In GLVC play only, Hrncir leads UIU with a 4.02 ERA, ranking 12th in the GLVC.Â
As a team, the Peacocks are batting .249 and have a 7.73 ERA. Upper Iowa's 30 home runs as a team rank seventh in the GLVC. The Peacock pitchers have totaled 244 strikeouts, ranking fifth in the GLVC.Â

Maryville (Mo.) (19-13, 13-3 GLVC) fell from first place to third place after losing three of four to Drury (Mo.) (20-13, 11-5 GLVC) this past weekend. This allowed No. 17 Illinois Springfield (25-8, 14-2 GLVC) and Missouri S&T (21-10, 14-2 GLVC) to jump the Saints in a tie for first place. The Miners are on a league-best 15-game win streak after sweeping Truman State (Mo.) (9-24, 3-17 GLVC), Rockhurst (Mo.) (22-11, 11-9 GLVC) and Southwest Baptist (Mo.) (13-19, 7-13 GLVC) in GLVC play.Â
The two first-place teams, UIS and S&T, face each other this weekend in a four-game series. Missouri-St. Louis (18-14, 12-4 GLVC) is in fourth, Drury is in fifth, and UIndy (19-15, 10-6 GLVC) is in sixth in the GLVC standings. Upper Iowa sits in 10th behind Lewis, Rockhurst and Quincy (Ill.) (22-14, 11-9 GLVC).
Rockhurst's Colton Wemhoff earned GLVC Player of the Week after batting 10-for-13 with two home runs, two doubles and a triple against Lincoln (Mo.) (5-23, 0-16 GLVC). Illinois Springfield's Richie Snider earned Pitcher of the Week after tossing five shutout innings with nine strikeouts in the Prairie Stars' series finale win vs. Truman State.Â
