FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa baseball (15-20, 8-10 GLVC) heads south to Springfield, Missouri, this weekend to take on Drury (Mo.) (22-14, 13-5 GLVC) at Meador Park. The four-game series is set to begin on Friday at 5 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m., then the series finale on Sunday at 12 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks won the series against William Jewell (Mo.) (7-29, 3-17 GLVC) this past weekend, taking three out of four games. They swept the doubleheader on Friday, winning the first game, 15-5, and the second game, 7-5. The Peacocks continued that success into Saturday's doubleheader, winning the first game, 11-2, but dropping the second game, 10-8. This was the second GLVC series the Peacocks have won this season.
Gabe Bombardier, JJ Vargas and Brock Zimmer all hit home runs this past weekend. Bombardier hit two home runs and drove in 13 runs. Vargas also hit two home runs and drove in eight runs. Zimmer went 11-of-13 at the plate, hitting two doubles, a home run and had six RBIs while scoring seven runs. Jared Hoodjer and Thane Meiners tallied seven hits each, with Meiners also scoring nine runs.
Kyle Hrncir took the mound for game one of Saturday's doubleheader, where he pitched six innings, giving up four hits and two runs while striking out seven Cardinal batters. This performance earned Hrncir his third victory of the season. Brett Nicodemus pitched two scoreless innings without allowing a hit in game two of Friday's doubleheader, giving him his second save of the season.
GLVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Zimmer became the third Peacock to win GLVC player of the week this season. Zimmer batted .846 (11-for-13) and recorded two walks, posting a .833 on-base percentage. He also ripped two doubles and one home run for a 1.231 slugging percentage. He drove in six runs and scored seven himself, highlighted by 4-for-4 performance in the first game of series where he tallied one double, one RBI and three runs scored.Â

Vargas is sitting at 28 career home runs, which is two shy of the program record of 30 set last season by Gunnar Wicklund.
Gabe Olson is sitting at six wins on the season, which is three shy of the program record set by three different pitchers dating back to 1967.Â
STATISTICAL SUMMARY
Meiners leads the Peacocks with 41 hits and a .336 batting average. He also has a .428 on-base percentage and a .434 slugging percentage with seven doubles, one triple and one home run.Â
Hoodjer is second on the team with a .330 batting average with a team-best 1.012 OPS. He has seven home runs and 27 RBIs in his senior season.
Zimmer grew his batting average to .328 with 40 hits and six home runs. Bombardier is batting .290 with a team-best 44 RBIs, which is tied for seventh in the conference.Â
Cael Luzum is slashing .294/.420/.437 with 12 doubles and 11 stolen bases. Vargas has a team-best nine home runs and a .553 slugging percentage. Jayce Klug has a team-best .441 on-base percentage, drawing 27 walks and swiping 12 bases.
On the mound, Olson still sits at second in the conference with a 3.30 ERA. In 46.1 innings pitched, Olson has struck out 42 batters while opponents are hitting .299 against him.
Dylan Hesch is ranked 10th in the GLVC with a 4.75 ERA. In 36 innings pitched, Hesch has 34 strikeouts and has given up 22 walks.
As a team, the Peacocks are batting .267 and have a 7.47 ERA. Upper Iowa has hit 35 home runs, which ranks sixth in the conference. Peacock pitching has combined for 271 strikeouts, putting them at sixth in the conference.
AROUND THE GLVC
Missouri S&T (25-10, 18-2 GLVC) has taken sole possession of first place in the GLVC as it is in the midst of a 19-game winning streak. No. 15 Illinois Springfield (26-12, 14-6 GLVC) was swept by Missouri S&T this past weekend, dropping them to fourth in the conference.
Indianapolis (23-15, 14-6 GLVC) is riding a 10-game winning streak, which has now tied them for fourth place in the conference with Illinois Springfield and Missouri-St. Louis (20-17, 14-6 GLVC). Rockhurst (Mo.) (23-14, 11-9 GLVC), Quincy (Ill.) (25-16, 13-11 GLVC), Lewis (Ill.) (15-20, 8-9 GLVC) and UIU are all fighting for the final two spots of the first eight to make the GLVC tournament with three weekends to go.Â
Maryville's Brayden Rubel earned GLVC pitcher of the week after tossing 6.2 shutout innings and striking out eight hitters in the third game against Lewis.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Drury is coming off a series split at Truman State (Mo.) (10-26, 4-19 GLVC). The Panther's 13-5 conference record puts them in third place in the conference standings.Â
Junior outfielder Greydon Miller leads the Panthers, batting .415/.477/.607 with a team-high 44 RBIs. Miller's .415 batting average is good enough for sixth in the conference. He is also tied second in the GLVC with four triples.
Senior first baseman Logan Reidelberger is tied for second in the conference with 59 hits on the season. Reidelberger is batting .401/.480/.599 with five home runs and 40 RBIs. His .401 batting average is the 13th best in the GLVC.
Senior outfielder Connor Bain is another one of the GLVC's top sluggers with a .399 batting average. Bain has 57 hits on the season with eight home runs while driving in 41 RBIs with a .685 slugging percentage.
Canadian native Kaleb Thomas has pitched a team-high 45.1 innings with a 5.76 ERA and is sixth in the conference with 50 strikeouts. Freshman lefty Anthony Vita has a team-best 5.64 ERA in 30.1 innings. Junior righty Coleman Morrison has made a team-high eight starts with a 7.83 ERA.Â
As a team, the Panthers are at the top of the conference with a .346 batting average and 446 hits. Their pitching staff ranks 11th in ERA at 8.13.
Head coach Scott Nasby is in his 13th season as head coach of the Drury Panthers. He holds a record of 352-254-1 while going 216-139-1 in GLVC play. Nasby has led the Panthers to two conference championships and five NCAA Division II tournament appearances.
