Olson throws seven scoreless innings in Friday's victory

FAYETTE, Iowa - Gabe Olson picked up his third scoreless appearance and fifth victory of the season in Upper Iowa's (12-14, 5-4 GLVC) 4-0 victory against UIndy (13-15, 7-6 GLVC) on Friday. The Peacocks reached four times on bunts, scoring their first two runs of the game off a pair.

The game was scoreless through the first five innings with the Peacocks only recording one hit off a Gabe Bombardier single in the fourth. UIndy threatened after a leadoff walk by Luke Smock and back-to-back sacrifice bunts got him to third base in the third inning. Olson struck out the final batter of the inning to come out unscathed.

Kyle Hrncir got UIU's second hit of the game after reaching on a bunt. Jayce Klug singled up the middle to advance Hrncir to third. An errant throw at home on a bunt by Cael Luzum allowed Hrncir to score and Klug to advance to third. After that, Thane Meiners hit a bunt single in the perfect spot out near first base to bring Klug in for the second run.

UIndy threatened with a runner on third and two outs in the fifth again, but a flyout to right field ended the inning. After getting runners on first and second in the seventh, Olson got his final two outs of the day after a batter's interference and a strikeout, marking his fifth of the game.

Upper Iowa added two more insurance runs in the ninth inning, starting with a Hrncir leadoff double and getting to third on an error. Klug RBI singled through the right side for the third run of the game. After Luzum and Meiners singles loaded the bases, Brock Zimmer hit a sacrifice fly for the fourth run.

The Greyhounds got a runner on in the bottom of the seventh on a one-out, six-pitch walk. Meiners and Hrncir teamed up to get a pair of outs on fielder's choices at second base to end the game.
