DALLAS - Upper Iowa's Jared Hoodjer was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Hitter of the Week after his outstanding performance in the GLVC-opening sweep against Lincoln (Mo.) this past weekend. 

He becomes the first player in program history to win the national award for Upper Iowa. Hoodjer also won the Midwest Region Hitter of the Week award to advance to that national ballot. He's the first player since Keaton Parker in 2023 to win an NCBWA Player of the Week award, as Parker earned the Central Region Pitcher of the Week honor. 

Hoodjer totaled 10 hits with two doubles, three home runs and 17 RBIs in the sweep over the Blue Tigers. He also had a .667 batting average and a 1.400 slugging percentage. Overall on the week, he batted .556 and had a .640 on-base percentage, including the previous Monday's Parkside (Wis.) games. 

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests

The Peacocks are scheduled to face Maryville (Mo.) (10-10, 4-0 GLVC) this weekend in Fayette at Robertson Woods Field, starting on Friday at 2 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader starts at 1 p.m., and Sunday's game four is at noon.
