INDIANAPOLIS - UIU baseball's Gabe Bombardier secured Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Player of the Week honors. The senior slashed .412/.474/.882 this past weekend to help Upper Iowa win three games against Newman (Kan.) (2-7).
Bombardier totaled seven hits, two doubles, two home runs and 13 RBIs over the weekend. He smacked a grand slam to help obtain seven RBIs in the game three victory. Bombardier currently leads the conference in RBIs with 16.
He becomes the first player in program history to earn a GLVC Player of the Week award. The last baseball player to win a weekly award was Keaton Parker in 2023 with an NSIC Pitcher of the Week honor.
The Peacocks are in Hammond, Indiana, this upcoming weekend for a three-game series against Purdue Northwest. Action starts on Friday at 1 p.m. in Dowling Park.
