Block earns program’s first GLVC Defensive Player of the Week accolade

Junior libero becomes second player in program history to earn GLVC weekly honor

INDIANAPOLIS - Morgan Block continued adding to her accolades this week with a GLVC Defensive Player of the Week selection on Monday. Block becomes UIU's first player in program history to earn the GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honor.

The junior libero joins Zoe Semelroth as the program's only other player to earn GLVC weekly honors since joining the conference in 2023. Semelroth earned GLVC Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2024. Block is UIU's first conference defensive player of the week since Charisma Herr earned the NSIC honor in 2021.

Block totaled 55 digs (5.5/set) this past weekend at the Midwest Region Crossover to help UIU go 3-0. She was a perfect 31-for-31 on serve receptions without an error. The junior has recorded double digits in digs in 18 of her 19 matches this season.

The Peacocks resume conference play on the road this weekend against Southwest Baptist (Mo.) (14-8, 3-4 GLVC) and Drury (Mo.) (15-6, 5-2 GLVC). UIU faces the Bearcats in Bolivar at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, and the Panthers in Springfield on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m.
