FAYETTE, Iowa. – Peacock women's wrestling beat Morningside, 24-15, and Luther, 21-20, in the team's first home event in program history. Kylee Shoop and Eliana Callies went undefeated on the evening.
Callies beat Baylie Wehmeyer of Morningside after pinning her at 1:55. The freshman also beat Grace Rinehardt of Luther by a fall at 1:38.
Shoop won her first match over Kelsie Krivohlavek of the Mustangs after she earned a tech fall at 3:31. The Ryan native beat the Norse's Lexi Timmerman after pinning her at 1:28.
The Peacocks defeated the Norse via tiebreaker. Shoop recorded a four-point throw in the first match of the dual, meeting the tiebreaker criteria to give UIU the win.
Upper Iowa 24, Morningside 15
Shoop picked up the first win for the Peacocks after defeating Krivohlavek by a 13-0 tech fall 3:30 into the match. She had scored two points four times in the first period and had a four-point throw in the second.
McKenzie Tollefson (145) earned points for the Peacocks after picking up a forfeit. Callies beat Wehmeyer with a fall at 1:55 after jumping out to a 10-0 lead.
Mya Mendoza (180) picked up five points after a forfeit. Kylie Doty (207) received five points off a forfeit.

Upper Iowa wrestles in the Grand View Open on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 9 a.m. The Peacocks begin postseason action with the NCAA Region V Championships on Feb. 21.
