INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) released the 2026 Preseason Coaches' Poll for baseball on Wednesday. Upper Iowa was picked ninth while receiving 81 votes.Â
The Peacocks were three votes ahead of McKendree in 10th. Missouri-St. Louis came in at eighth while receiving one first-place vote. Six total teams received first-place votes.
Indianapolis took first in the poll with 181 points and five first-place votes. Illinois Springfield was in second with 170 points and four first-place votes, while Maryville (Mo.) was picked third with 169 points and two first-place votes. Drury (Mo.) came in at fourth with two first-place votes, and Lewis (Ill.) received a first-place vote in fifth.Â
Missouri S&T comes into the season as the reigning GLVC Tournament Champions. The Miners were picked seventh in the poll, receiving 125 votes.Â
Brock Zimmer returns as UIU's top hitter after slashing .355/.410/.543 last season with 10 doubles, two triples and seven home runs. The senior from Hopkins, Minnesota, has a career .302 batting average.Â
Senior Isaiah Maes returns as UIU's top player on the mound, pitching 56.1 innings last season. He picked up four wins with a shutout while recording 35 strikeouts.Â
The Peacocks begin the 2026 campaign in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, with three games against Northeastern State (Okla.) on Feb. 6-8. UIU's first home games are scheduled for March 6-8 against Parkside (Wis.).
