CHICAGO - The Peacock women's soccer team (0-1-1) fell to Roosevelt (Ill.) (1-1-0) by a score of 5-1 on Sunday afternoon. Freshman midfielder Rhea Buchanan scored the lone goal for UIU.

Buchanan's goal was the first of the game and the first of the season for Upper Iowa. It gave the Peacocks an early 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute. It was unassisted. 

The goal was almost immediately followed up by the Lakers in the 25th minute. Junior Daisy Garcia notched a goal in the 25th minute. Garcia added two more goals in the half for a hat trick. Cami Butler also scored one for the Lakers to give them a 4-1 halftime lead. 

The second half remained 4-1 until a goal by RU's Kenna Wisniewski in the 85th minute. The Peacocks recorded one shot in the second half. 

Roosevelt outshot Upper Iowa 28-3, with 20 of the shots coming in the first half. The Lakers also led in corner kicks 7-4. UIU had five fouls, while RU had four fouls. 

Stephany Castillo and Haylie Hutchinson each added a shot for Upper Iowa. Myriah Roybal and Castillo played all 90 minutes. Sienna Johnson got the start in the goal and made nine saves. The Peacocks totaled 10 saves as a team, while Roosevelt didn't record one. 

Upper Iowa is back in action on Friday, Sept. 12, at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minnesota. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. The Peacocks will then host Jamestown at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14.
