KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State (Mo.) (3-2-2, 3-1-1 GLVC) scored three goals in Sunday's second half to get the victory against the Upper Iowa women's soccer team (2-4-2, 0-3-1 GLVC). The Peacocks held a 1-0 lead at halftime, but three goals in 20 minutes helped the Bulldogs get the 3-1 victory.
13 minutes into the game, Haylie Hutchinson deflected the ball away from Truman State to Meghan Zwicker near the TSU 30-yard line. Zwicker then got the ball back to Hutchinson on the right side, who then crossed it over to Haylee Allen in front of the net for the score. The Peacocks kept the lead until halftime, despite the Bulldogs outshooting them, 13-4.
Aubrey Kaupas opened the floodgates for the Bulldogs in the second half. After Quinn Naumann drove the ball toward the net, she found Kaupas in front of it on the left side. After her initial shot was blocked, Kaupas put in the rebound to tie the game at 1-1.
Four minutes later, Naumann scored herself. This time, she made a nice move to get to the left side of the net and knock in the go-ahead goal. The third goal came in the 70th minute by Madison Blomenkamp on a well-set-up play from the Bulldogs.
The Peacocks were outshot 9-1 in the second half for a 22-5 overall total in the game. Jessica Ancheta had the only shot of the second half for Upper Iowa in the closing seconds.
Allen's goal marked her second of the season. Hutchinson picked up her third assist, and Zwicker's assist was her first of the season. Ancheta and Natasha Toxqui each had a team-high two shots.
Rhea Buchanan, Natalie Lima and Myriah Roybal played all 90 minutes. Sienna Johnson made six saves as the goalkeeper in the net, with three in each half.
Truman State had the advantage in corner kicks, 11-2. Upper Iowa had 10 fouls, with the Bulldogs committing four. Truman goalkeeper Siman Loethen made one save.
