"We knew it was going to be tough after we fought hard for a draw against UIndy on Friday," said head coach Patrick Ritter. "We knew we were a little tired coming in, and we had to make some last-minute changes and put some players in some spots they haven't practiced before. The girls fought hard, but it just didn't go our way today."
Rhea Buchanan, Myriah Roybal and Natasha Toxqui each recorded a shot on goal for the Peacocks. Jessican Ancheta and Melanie Mejia each had a shot. Buchanan and Roybal both played the full 90 minutes. Sienna Johnson totaled four saves in the net for the Peacocks.
UIU is back in action on the road against Quincy (Ill.) (3-1-2, 2-0-1 GLVC) on Friday, Sept. 26, at 5 p.m. The Peacocks then play Truman State (1-2-1, 1-1-0 GLVC) in Kirksville on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2:30 p.m.
