FAYETTE, Iowa - Peacock women's cross-country heads to Northfield, Minnesota, to compete in the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20th at 11 a.m. The invite is hosted by St. Olaf (Minn.) and will take place at the college's cross-country course.
LAST TIME OUT
Upper Iowa placed fifth this past weekend in the 52nd All-American Invitational. Junior transfer Katie Kraft finished with a time of 22:58.97 and a 39th-place finish, which led all Peacocks.
While competing in her senior year, Eryn Sabelka placed 39th with a time of 23:09.5.
In their first meet, freshmen Lisbeth Trinidad-Valerio finished with a time of 27.57.7, and Cheyanna Thompson-Williams finished with a time of 32:20.2. Returning junior Rio Johnson crossed the finish line with a time of 33:32.9.
ABOUT THE INVITATIONAL
This is the 54th Annual St. Olaf Invitational Cross Country Meet. The women will run a 6K race. The meet record for the race is held by Carleton's Clara Mayfield in 2022 with a time of 21:11.9. The course record came in 2002 with Missy Buttry of Wartburg running the race in 20:17.3.
2024 ST. OLAF INVITATIONAL
UIU placed 22nd out of 26 with a total of 695 points last year at the St. Olaf Invitational. Sabelka finished the best on the team with a time of 28:04.1, along with a 176th-place finish. Rio Johnson tallied a time of 39:54.2.
Carleton (Minn.) took home first place with 35 points, followed by host St. Olaf with 54 points. Carleton's Hannah Preisser won the race with a time of 21:57.8, followed by teammate Sophie McManus in second at 22:05.7. St. Olaf's Alison Bode rounded out the top three with a time of 22:16.4\
