Upper Iowa men's soccer starts conference play against two ranked opponents

The squad will travel on Friday, Sept. 19th, to face No. 8 Indianapolis (3-0-1) at 7:30 p.m. ET and will close out the week by squaring off against No. 23 Lewis (Mo.) (2-0-2) at home on Sunday, Sept. 21st at 2:30 p.m.

FAYETTE, Iowa – Upper Iowa men's soccer (1-2) begins conference play this week. The squad will travel on Friday, Sept. 19th, to face No. 8 Indianapolis (3-0-1) at 7:30 p.m. ET and will close out the week by squaring off against No. 23 Lewis (Mo.) (2-0-2) at home on Sunday, Sept. 21st at 2:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks won their first game of the season on the road against Viterbo (Mo.) (3-1-2) last Thursday. Their second matchup against Parkside last Sunday was canceled.

Dexter Garrett galvanized the Peacock's offense last week when he scored two goals late in the game against the V-Hawks. His first goal happened during the 78th minute, and the other happened during the 84th minute off an assist from Nikola Momocilovic. As the clock was about to expire, Jonah Bowen-Burt scored his first career goal. 

ABOUT THE Greyhounds  – Friday 7:30 p.m. ET
Indianapolis faced off against two opponents last week and won both matches. They won 6-2 against Findlay (OH) (1-2) on Wednesday, and won 3-0 against GLVC foe Truman State (Mo) (1-1-1)

Alvaro Sanchez leads the Greyhounds in goals scored with three, followed by Colin Elder and Gio Terlizzi, who have each recorded two goals on the season. Two of Sanchez's three goals came during the match with the Bulldogs. Kabiru Gafar has the most assists on the team with two.

Senior goalkeeper Keerti Unnamatla has played in all four games and has recorded 10 saves on the season. He has a 76.9% save percentage. 

Head coach Gabe Hall is in his fourth year at Indianapolis and has an overall record of 34-12-15. 

ABOUT THE FLYERS  – Sunday 2:30 p.m.
Lewis tied Northern Michigan (1-0-3), 0-0,  last Thursday and Quincy (Ill.) (2-1-1),1-0, last Sunday. Makonennen Stampley scored the only goal for the Flyers last week. 

Five other players on the team each have netted one goal this season: Mikey Revell, Carson Czosnyka, Jaden Jaime, Lucas Lloyd and Mario Ramirez. Revell and Roman Hernandez are tied for the most assists with two. 

Evan Fiffles is in his 33rd year as the Lewis head coach. His current overall record is 380-185-169. 

UP NEXT
UIU will hit the road next Friday to take on Quincy at 7:30 p.m. and then again on Sunday to square off with Truman State at 12 p.m.
