DECORAH, Iowa - The Upper Iowa women's cross country team opened its season at the 52nd All-American Invitational 5K. The Peacocks placed fifth in the meet hosted by Luther College.
UIU scored 150 points at the invite. Minnesota Running Club took home first place with a score of 39, while Augustana (Ill.) took second place with a score of 41.
Junior transfer Katie Kraft led the Peacocks with a time of 22:58.97. She finished 35th overall.
Senior Eryn Sabelka raced for her fourth time at the All-American Invitational. She placed 39th and finished the race with a time of 23:09.5.
In their first meet, freshmen Lisbeth Trinidad-Valerio finished with a time of 27.57.7, and Cheyanna Thompson-Williams finished with a time of 32:20.2. Returning junior Rio Johnson crossed the finish line with a time of 33:32.9.
UIU travels out of state to Northfield, Minnesota, next week on Saturday, Sept.20, to race in the St. Olaf Invitational.
