Men's soccer starts road weekend against Viterbo and Parkside

Upper Iowa Men’s Soccer (0-2) heads to La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Sept. 11th to take on Viterbo (2-0-2) at 3:30 p.m. and then heads to Kenosha (Wis.) on Sept. 14th to play Parkside (0-1-1) at noon.

FAYETTE, Iowa – Upper Iowa Men's Soccer (0-2) heads to La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Sept. 11th to take on Viterbo (2-0-2) at 3:30 p.m. and then heads to Kenosha (Wis.) on Sept. 14th to play Parkside (0-1-1) at noon.

LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks played their first home game against St. Cloud State (Minn.) (1-1-0) last Thursday and then against Saint Ambrose (5-0) in Davenport on Saturday. They ended up losing both matches by a score of 3-1.

Julian Mesen and Timur Nagy both scored a goal for Upper Iowa last week. Mesen scored the Peacocks' first goal of the season during the 86th minute against St. Cloud St., while Nagy scored his first career goal in the 33rd minute against St. Ambrose.

ABOUT THE V-HAWKS – Thursday 3:30 p.m.
Last Sunday, the V-Hawks played one match last week against Carleton College (Minn.) (3-1) and won, 2-1. Forwards Ronmel Alfaro and Joaquin Eichhorn scored against Carleton while goalkeeper Peter Kolenyo had three saves.

Third-year V-Hawks head coach Roberto Yepez has an overall record of 14-12-12.

ABOUT THE RANGERS – 12 p.m.
Parkside played two matches last Thursday and Friday. They lost the first match to Quincy (2-0), 5-0, and the second match against Lewis (1-0-1), 2-2.

Senior forward Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen leads the team in total goals with two and also leads the team in shots with six. Midfielder/forward Carlos Manjarez is the top passer with two assists, while goalkeeper Daniyal Rana leads the team with 11 saves.  

Parkside's Jason Zitzke is in his 14th season as head coach and 25th overall with the program.

UP NEXT
The Peacocks start conference play next week against Indianapolis and Lewis (Mo.).
