Peacock women's basketball announces 2025 recruiting class

Seven newcomers added for upcoming season

FAYETTE, Iowa – The Upper Iowa University women's basketball program is excited to welcome a talented and dynamic group of student-athletes to the roster for the 2025-26 season. This year's class includes a mix of high school standouts, proven college transfers and players with state and national accolades. Collectively, they represent the continued rise of the Peacocks and reflect the program's growing standard of excellence both on and off the court.

Magi Bjornson – Farmington, Minn. / Farmington High School

A three-time varsity letter winner and four-time Academic All-State selection, Magi Bjornson brings a strong inside presence and a high ceiling to Fayette. She earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors and will bring size, grit and a competitive edge to the Peacock frontcourt.

"We are incredibly excited to add Magi to our program," said head coach Justin Maass. "She gives us much-needed size in the paint and has the ability to impact the game on both ends. Magi has a big chip on her shoulder, and it's going to help push her to develop as an athlete. She's a great kid that our community will love from day one."

Josie Foster – Caledonia, Minn. / Caledonia High School

Josie Foster joins Upper Iowa after an outstanding high school career that included surpassing the 1,000-point mark and leading her team to a Class AA Consolation Championship appearance. She scored 27 points in a state tournament win over Barnesville and earned three All-Conference selections and All-State Honorable Mention honors.

"Josie will carry on the Caledonia to UIU tradition," added Maass. "She put together a great high school career, both with individual stats and in leading her team to postseason success. Josie has a smooth left-handed jumper but also has the ability to get to the rim. Peacock fans will love seeing her on the court."

Ellie Foster – Dike, Iowa / Dike-New Hartford HS / University of Northern Iowa

A Division I transfer, Ellie Foster brings a wealth of experience from her time at UNI and UW-Green Bay, where she played in over 70 collegiate games. She's a former Iowa high school standout with multiple All-State honors and a perfect 4.0 GPA as a valedictorian.

"Ellie is a great transfer pickup for our program," stated Maass. "She brings a lot of experience playing at the highest college level. She can score in so many ways, and her basketball IQ will translate immediately to our game. We're very excited about her impact on the court and the experience she brings to the rest of the team. Peacock fans will love seeing her light it up from behind the arc."

Kendyl Lodermeier – Goodhue, Minn. / Goodhue High School

One of the most decorated players in the state of Minnesota, Kendyl Lodermeier is a finalist for 2025 Minnesota Miss Basketball and brings an elite resume to the Peacocks. Her accolades include three All-State selections, three All-Tournament Team honors, and leadership roles as a two-year team captain. She also led Goodhue to a state title during her career.

"Peacock fans will recognize the name quickly," Maass said. "Kendyl is a jack-of-all-trades type of player who can make an impact in every area of the game. She's as tough as they come and only cares about winning. She had an amazing high school career with countless individual awards and a state title. Getting Kendyl in a Peacocks jersey was a no-brainer."

Bryar Duwe – Decorah, Iowa / Decorah HS / Truman State

After scoring over 1,400 points in high school and setting multiple school records, Bryar Duwe made her mark at Truman State as a high-efficiency scoring guard. She shot 42.1% from the floor and 38.1% from three during her collegiate career while averaging 8.0 points per game.

"Bryar is a scoring guard who comes to us from Truman State," said Maass. "She really grew this past season into one of the top guards in the GLVC. She can score in so many ways and brings a high basketball IQ with her. It will be nice to compete with her instead of against her. Also, it's always great to add a local player who dominated the Northwest Iowa area in high school."

Reagan Hofer – DeWitt, Iowa / Central DeWitt HS / Central College

Reagan Hofer brings strong academic and athletic credentials to Upper Iowa. She helped lead Central DeWitt High School to a 4A State Tournament appearance in 2021–22, and she earned MAC Second Team All-Conference and Clinton Herald First Team honors as a junior. At Central College, she was a varsity contributor during the 2023–24 season and a four-time Academic All-Conference honoree.

"Reagan is a well-rounded guard who comes to Upper Iowa from Central College," noted Maass. "She has the ability to impact the game defensively with her length and athleticism. Offensively, her combination of outside shooting and a quick first step makes her a great addition. She's another Iowa kid that our fan base will love."

Jordan McMahon – St. Louis Park, Minn. / Anoka-Ramsey Community College

Jordan McMahon was a force in the paint at Anoka-Ramsey, averaging a double-double with 10.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. A member of the NJCAA DIII National Tournament All-Tournament Team, she also holds the second-highest single-game rebound mark in school history (23).

"Jordan gives us much-needed size and physicality in the post," said Maass. "She comes from a very successful JUCO program and proved herself in her freshman year. An injury took her sophomore season away, but she's ready to come back better than before. Peacock fans will love the non-stop competitive motor she plays with."

Looking Ahead
This incoming class adds a blend of size, versatility, scoring and championship pedigree to a program on the rise. The Peacocks are coming off a strong season in the GLVC and continue building toward sustained success with a roster that blends experience and young talent.

"This recruiting class reflects the continued growth and competitive vision of Upper Iowa Women's Basketball," Maass concluded. "The future is bright in Fayette!"
