Upper Iowa baseball's
Gunnar Wicklund was selected to the 2025 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II Midwest All-Region Team, announced on Wednesday. The 2025 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year have been announced in all eight regions. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association, and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.
The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Rudy Garbalosa of Lynn University. Also on the committee are Jim Gantt (Catawba College), Rick Giannetti (Dominican College), Dave Hajek (University of Colorado at Colorado Springs), Ryan Kelley (Wayne State University), Alex Koch (Wayne State College), Marc Marizzaldi (Seton Hill University) and Tony Schifano (San Francisco State University).
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
Wicklund earned Second Team All-GLVC honors after starting in 45 games for the Peacocks and delivering an impressive season at the plate. He recorded a .327 batting average with 53 hits and 35 runs, adding eight doubles and a team-high 46 RBIs. He led the team with a .710 slugging percentage and broke the school's single-season home run record with 18 long balls, which also pushed him to the top of Upper Iowa's career home run list with 30.
Highlight performances included a perfect 4-for-4 outing against Truman State, where he tallied three runs, three home runs, and five RBIs, and a 3-for-3 effort against Quincy with three runs, two homers, and three RBIs.
Eight GLVC student-athletes earned spots on the Midwest All-Region First Team, while Wicklund was one of nine selected to the All-Region Second Team.
