Peacock baseball faced Viterbo on Tuesday in a non-conference game, where they held on for a slim 6-5 win at Robertson Woods Field.

Brock Zimmer and
Paul Safranski each tallied three of Upper Iowa's 15 hits. Viterbo amassed nine hits that fueled their five runs.
Mason Adkins (1-1) earned his first win on the mound after six innings of work. He allowed two hits and one earned run while walking five batters and striking out three.
Dalton Dibert made his debut on the bump, where he threw for one inning and allowed one hit and zero runs.
Gabe Olson snagged his first save on the season after closing out the game. Hw allowed three hits and two runs in his outing.
The scoring began in the bottom of the first inning when UIU took a 1-0 lead that held until the fourth frame. Zimmer doubled to center field, driving in Hall to give the home team the advantage.
Viterbo quickly answered in the fourth inning, tying the game 1-1 on a single to left field, bringing around one to even the score.
Upper Iowa capitalized on a series of timely hits in the fifth inning and boosted the score. Zimmer and
Thane Meiners each singled, putting two on the base paths and advancing on a fly ball from
Jared Grams. Zimmer was brought in on a double to left field from
Sage Stellmacher, and two more runs crossed the plate on Safranski's single to right field, extending the Peacocks' lead to 4-1.
Upper Iowa added another pair of runs to further distance in the sixth inning, making it 6-1.
Viterbo mounted a comeback in the latter part of the contest. Their rally started in the seventh inning with a two-RBI single to left center, which brought home two runners that cut the deficit to 6-3.
The comeback continued into the ninth inning as Viterbo made a final push. The bases were loaded with two outs when VU cracked a single through the right side, trailing by only one run (6-5). Upper Iowa's defense held strong and a fly out to left field concluded the contest, securing the win for the Peacocks.
UIU is on the road this weekend as they face McKendree in their upcoming series, scheduled for Friday through Sunday.
