Peacocks Drop Two against the Miners

The Peacocks were unable to overcome Missouri S&T's high-scoring offense as the Miners took game one 9-4 and game two 10-0.

Game One
Taylor Sedam got off to a hot-start as she homered in her first at bat to put the Peacocks up 1-0. She would hit 3-4 in the game with one RBI, and she scored her second run in the bottom of the fourth. Serah Shafer finished second on the team with two hits on four at bats, and she added a stolen base in the fifth inning.

Tristin Doster hit Upper Iowa's second homer of the day, as she smacked a two RBI shot over the right center field wall, which brought Sedam home and cut the lead to one. The Peacocks followed that up with back-to-back doubles, which started with Addyson Alber reaching second on a hit to right center. Dorothy Ziebell then recorded an RBI double to the exact same spot, which brought Alber home and tied the game at 4-4.

The Miners were able to take back the lead in the sixth with one run, and they iced the game with four runs atop the seventh inning. Freshman pitcher Mia Miller led the way for S&T, as she recorded 16 strikeouts while pitching a complete game in the 9-4 win. On the mound for the Peacocks, Sara Reid and Faith Lemonds each appeared in three innings. Reid recorded four strikeouts on the day, while Lemonds struck out three batters.

Game Two

Ziebell recorded the first hit in the fifth inning with a double out to the right field wall. Sedam added a double to right center field at the bottom of the sixth, where she finished the day with four total hits.

Delaney Vetter appeared on the mound during the first four innings of action, where she struck out five batters. With two outs and the bases loaded in the third inning, Vetter found herself facing a 3-0 count. She came through for the Peacocks with three consecutive strikes, to close out the inning and keep the game tied at 0-0.

The Miners jumped to a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning, where they were able to capitalize on two Peacock errors to score five unearned runs. The Added one run in the fifth, and secured the 10-0 win by scoring four runs atop the sixth inning.
