THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK BASEBALL
Upper Iowa baseball is set for its last conference action of the season, hosting Missouri S&T in a four-game series Friday through Sunday. The Peacocks come into the weekend with an 18-24 (12-16 GLVC) record, while the Miners enter at 23-18 overall and 13-11 in the league. The matchup marks Missouri S&T's first appearance in Fayette in 15 years.

Upper Iowa baseball used a five-run fourth inning to power past Waldorf on Monday, earning a 7-5 win at Robertson Woods Field.

ABOUT THE MINERS
Missouri S&T, with a 23-18 overall record and a 13-11 mark in conference play, is led offensively by Will Beckham (.408) and Drew Baugus (.372). Their pitching staff features Jake Schisler, who has logged 52.1 innings with 29 strikeouts, and Ethan Morrow, with a team-high 52 strikeouts after 46.1 innings pitched.

Ethan Sawyer continues to etch his name into the Peacock baseball history books, having now tallied an impressive 209 hits throughout his collegiate career. That mark puts him within striking distance of a significant milestone, just eight hits shy of tying the all-time career hits record of 217, a benchmark set by Tyler Adams back in 2014.

In this series, Missouri S&T holds a commanding lead with 18 wins to Upper Iowa's single victory. The most recent matchup occurred on April 7, 2024, in Rolla, Missouri, where the Miners defeated the Peacocks 16–6. Upper Iowa has averaged 3.11 runs per game throughout the series against Missouri S&T. UIU's lone win against S&T was in 2018, by a score of 2-1.
