RECAP OF THE LAST ACTION
Upper Iowa baseball edged out Viterbo 6-5 in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday at Robertson Woods Field. Bryce Hall, Brock Zimmer, and Paul Safranski each notched three hits as part of the Peacocks' 15-hit performance. Mason Adkins earned his first win, pitching six strong innings, while Gabe Olson secured the save despite a late Viterbo rally. UIU built a 6-1 lead by the sixth inning, highlighted by key hits from Zimmer, Stellmacher, and Safranski. Viterbo fought back with four runs over the final three innings, but UIU's defense sealed the narrow win.

LEAGUE STANDINGS
In the conference standings, Lewis holds a 14-2 mark to pace all teams. Illinois Springfield follows with a 14-5 record, followed by Maryville who has a 10-6 record. Indianapolis is fourth with a 9-6 league record. Drury follows behind in fifth at 9-7, while Missouri S&T holds a 11-9 record in sixth. Upper Iowa and Missouri S&T are tied for eighth in the conference at 10-10.

ON THE RIGHT TRACK
Peacock baseball has already surpassed its win total from the 2024 season, securing 15 victories compared to last year's 13. With a month still remaining, they have the opportunity to significantly increase that mark. The Peacocks have reached the 19-win threshold three times since 2017, including in 2023.

CHASING THE HOME RUN RECORD
Graduate student Gunnar Wicklund is second in the GLVC with 13 home runs on the season. He is just two shy of breaking Upper Iowa's all-time record of 14 in a single season, set by Jared Jones in 2000. Wicklund notched 12 home runs last campaign, sitting at 25 for his Peacock career. He has recorded 38 hits with a .369 batting average in 2025.

ON DECK
UIU is set to verse Missouri, St. Louis on the road next weekend in St. Louis, Mo. on April 17-19.
