The Drury Panthers were able to take both games in the double header against the Peacocks by scores of 3-2 in game one and 8-1 in game two.
Game One
The Peacocks scored two runs on five hits, while the Panthers scored three times on nine total hits. Drury got off to an early lead in the second inning, as they scored the opening run on a wild pitch. They added an RBI single out to center field in the fourth, and they scored a second run on the play due to a Peacock error.
Upper Iowa started to rally back in the top of the sixth, which started with
Serah Shafer singling on a bunt.
Tristin Doster added a single down the left field line and
Addyson Alber was able to load the bases on an error. The Peacocks scored their first run of the game on an error, and
Rae VanMilligan would be walked which cut the lead to 3-2. The Panthers would then close out the game atop the seventh with three consecutive ground outs.
Doster hit 2-3 on the day, while she and Shafer would score Upper Iowa's two runs. Shafer, as well as freshman
Dorothy Ziebell and junior
Taylor Hamaker each added one hit.
On the mound,
Sara Reid moved to 8-4 on the year, and she struck out four batters while giving up two earned runs on nine hits.
Game Two
The Panthers built on their win from game one, as they scored eight runs on 11 hits, to Upper Iowa's one run on four hits. Drury once again got to an early lead with runs in the first and second inning, before putting up three runs in both the bottom of the fourth and fifth.
Shafer and Ziebell each recorded hits once again, as Shafer has now recorded at least one hit in 26 outs of 29 games this season.
Kylie Doty added a double out to right center field to lead off the fifth inning, and she was able to advance to third on an error.
Taylor Sedam brought her home with a single up the middle, for her 13
th RBI of the season.
The Peacocks will look to bounce back tomorrow, Sunday, Mar. 30 at 12 and 2 p.m. as they take on the Southwest Baptist Bearcats.
