The Peacocks posted a 1-1 record on the day against the Quincy Hawks to improve to 3-3 in the GLVC. Upper Iowa won game one by a score of 7-5 as junior
Sara Reid pitched a complete game to improve to 6-3 on the year, before Quincy would take game two. 6-4.

Game One
The Peacocks opened the game on a high note as senior
Tristin Doster got on base with a double down the left field line. With two outs, she scored the opening run as junior
Taylor Sedam smacked an RBI single out to right field. UIU was able to put two on early in the second as juniors
Kylie Doty and
Taylor Hamaker were each walked. Junior
Serah Shafer posted an RBI single to center field, bringing Doty home and advancing Hamaker to third base. Shafer would then steal second to put two runners in scoring position, and a two RBI single by Doster would put the Peacocks ahead by a score of 4-0.

Following two scoreless innings, the Hawks opened the bottom of the fifth with a pair of infield singles. With both runners in scoring position, Quincy got on the board with an RBI groundout to the pitcher, and they were able to cut the lead to 4-2 on an RBI double.

UIU led off the sixth inning with a walk, and fifth year
Rae VanMilligan added a single on a hit out to center field. Shafer would then advance pinch runners, Hamaker and freshman
Reagon Proud as she hit an infield groundout. The Peacocks were able to take advantage of a wild pitch as Proud scored Upper Iowa's fifth run of the game while Hamaker advanced to third. Doster put the Peacocks ahead 6-2 with a sacrifice fly RBI out to center field to bring Hamaker home. Doster hit 3-4 in the game, recording a team-high 3 RBIs plus one run.

Both teams would each trade a run as Quincy scored on an RBI double, before senior
Reagan Church recorded an RBI double to left center field, bringing freshman
Dorothy Ziebell home after she was walked. The Hawks started the bottom of the seventh with a single to left field, before an RBI double would give them their fourth run of the day. They followed that up by hitting an RBI single to second base to cut the lead to two. With one out, Reid struck out her fourth batter of the game as they went down swinging. The Peacocks would record the final out after Quincy got caught in a pickle, securing the 7-5 win.

Game Two
Upper Iowa got off to a hot start once again, as Shafer was walked and she proceeded to steal second. She got on the board as Doster's RBI double gave UIU an early 1-0 lead.

Quincy tied the game in the bottom of the second inning, as they led off with a single to right field, before scoring their first run on a double down the right field line. They were able to capitalize on a Peacock error in the following inning, putting a runner on first. A Quincy triple would give the Hawks the lead, which they were able to extend to 3-1 as they capitalized on an error.

The Peacocks responded in the fourth, where junior
Kylie Doty led off with a single out to right center field. Junior
Shannon Nelson and freshman
Elliott Pomeroy each got on base on a fielder's choice, but Doty was tagged out at third. Upper Iowa was also able to take advantage of a throwing error, as Nelson scored to cut the lead to one. Pomeroy would then tie the game at 3-3, as Sedam brought her home with an RBI single out to left field.

The Hawks posted back-to-back singles in the fifth, on hits to center field and shortstop. They would take back the lead on an RBI double to the outfield, and followed that up with a two RBI single to make it a 6-4 game. Proud hit a single to right atop the sixth, but she would be thrown out on a fielder's choice as Shafer made it to first. With two outs, Shafer scored UIU's fourth run of the game as she advanced to third on an error, and proceeded to make it safely home.

Relief pitcher, freshman
Faith Lemonds closed out the sixth inning by striking out consecutive batters, finishing with three strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched. Quincy was able to split the series as they forced three straight outs in the seventh, concluding the game by a score of 6-4.

The Peacocks will host their first double header of the season at the Eischeid Softball Complex, as they take on Lewis on Tuesday, Mar. 18 at 12 and 2 p.m.
