Peacocks Drop Two at the Lewis Dome Invite

The Peacocks were unable to get the best of Wisconsin-Parkside and St. Cloud State as UW-Parkside continued their undefeated season with a 5-0 win, while St. Cloud State improved to 8-3 following their 4-0 victory.

Game One vs. Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers
The Rangers recorded five runs on nine hits, and they got on the board early with a two RBI triple in the first inning. They capped off the first with a 3-0 lead on an RBI single to the outfield, before scoring runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Peacocks put together four hits as a team, highlighted by senior Tristin Doster hitting a triple to right field in the first inning. Junior Shannon Nelson added a single on a bunt in the third, while junior Serah Shafer hit a double down the left field line to open the sixth inning. Fifth year Rae VanMilligan recorded the team's final hit, as she singled through the left side to lead off the seventh. On the mound, fifth year Delaney Vetter struck out five batters, including a two-strikeout performance in the bottom of the fifth.

Game Two vs. St. Cloud State Huskies
The Huskies scored four runs on eight hits, where they took the lead at the top of the fifth inning. St. Cloud State recorded consecutive RBIs to right field to take a 2-0 lead, before extending their lead to four on a two RBI triple atop the seventh.

The Peacocks recorded four hits which would once again all come from different players. Junior Taylor Sedam singled out to right field at the bottom of the first, and freshman Reagon Proud added a single up the middle to lead off the third inning. Freshman Dorothy Ziebell hit a single out to right field halfway through the fourth and sophomore Addyson Alber added a single through the left side early in the sixth inning. Junior Sara Reid pitched a complete game, where she recorded a season-high ten strikeouts. She recorded two strikeouts in the first, second, and third innings, before closing out the game by striking out three batters in the seventh inning.

The Peacocks will be back in action tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 21 as they face Roosevelt at 11 a.m. and Minnesota State- Moorhead at 1:30 p.m.
