FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa women's basketball (6-3, 3-0 GLVC) welcomes two opponents out of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) to Dorman Gym over the course of the next week. The Peacocks face Roosevelt (Ill.) (1-5, 0-2 GLIAC) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday before closing out the Upper Iowa athletics calendar year with a game against Lake Superior State (Mich.) (0-7, 0-2 GLIAC) on Saturday, December 20.

LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks are riding a five-game winning streak heading into the final stretch of 2025. Upper Iowa found success in each of its first three GLVC contests, defeating Quincy (Ill.) (4-4, 1-2 GLVC) 91-83, Lincoln (Mo.) (4-5, 2-2 GLVC) 90-67, and Missouri S&T (4-4, 1-2 GLVC) 61-56.
In those three games, Bryar Duwe averaged 17.7 points per game (ppg) and eight rebounds per game (rpg), scoring a career-high 24 points against Lincoln and recording a double-double against Missouri S&T. Ava Privet was second in the team in scoring at 15.3 ppg and knocked down 13 3-pointers. Sydnee Nelson added 14.3 ppg and six assists per game (apg).
The three GLVC wins were followed up by a 96-50 triumph over Waldorf, as the Peacocks shot 52.6% from the field as a team. Ellie Foster, Kendyl Lodermeier, Privet, Duwe and Josie Foster all finished in double figures, as Upper Iowa scored its most points in a game since 2021.
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Foster leads UIU in scoring at 12.7 ppg, reaching double figures in six of the last seven contests. She is 14th in the GLVC in ppg and third in 3-pointers made.
Privet is second in scoring at 12.3 ppg, knocking down a GLVC-best 27 3-pointers on the season and shooting at a 47.4% clip on the year from behind the arc. Her 3-point percentage ranks second in the conference.
The Peacocks' leading rebounder is Duwe, as the junior is hauling in six rpg. She also averages 10.8 ppg and 3.3 apg. Her 17.7 ppg in conference play ranks third in the GLVC.
Nelson's 3.8 apg is the most on the team, headlined by her career-high 10 assists against Quincy. Nelson's six apg in conference play is a GLVC-best, and her 14.3 ppg against conference opponents ranks 15th.
AROUND THE GLVC
Three GLVC squads remain undefeated through the opening week of conference play, as Upper Iowa is joined by Missouri-St. Louis (7-1, 4-0 GLVC) and Drury (Mo.) (5-3, 3-0 GLVC) with zeros in the loss column.
The Tritons opened GLVC play with a home win over Illinois Springfield (3-6, 1-3 GLVC) before winning three straight road games. The Panthers have yet to play a home game in conference play, winning three road contests to stay undefeated.
Maryville (Mo.) (7-2, 3-1 GLVC), McKendree (Ill.) (4-2, 2-1 GLVC) and Truman State (Mo.) (4-5, 2-1 GLVC) are the three teams in the conference with one loss each. The Saints' lone loss came to unbeaten Missouri-St. Louis on Dec. 9, by a score of 61-53.
Upper Iowa will face its toughest conference tests yet at the turn of the calendar year. When GLVC play resumes, the Peacocks will match up with Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville, each of which was picked inside the top four in the GLVC's preseason coaches' poll.
ABOUT ROOSEVELT - Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
The Lakers currently sit at a record of 1-5 on the season, losing both of their first two GLIAC contests. Before arriving in Fayette, Roosevelt will travel to play Illinois Springfield on Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.
Last week, Roosevelt fell 64-48 to Michigan Tech (6-2, 2-0 GLIAC) before coming up just short against No. 16 Northern Michigan (7-1, 2-0 GLIAC), losing 83-82. NMU's CJ Romero iced the game with a free throw to put the Wildcats up four with four seconds to play.
As a team, the Lakers rank fourth in the GLIAC with 6.8 3-pointers made per game. Roosevelt brings in the fourth-most offensive rebounds per game at a mark of 12.8 and forces the fifth-most turnovers per game at 18.2.
Junior forward Isabella Pitta leads Roosevelt in scoring and rebounding with marks of 12.7 ppg and 7.3 rpg. Pitta also has the most blocks on the team with four in the Lakers' first six games. Her rebounding average ranks third in the GLIAC. The Division I Lipscomb transfer is coming off a career-high 21 points against Northern Michigan.
Kelly Boyle is the team's second-leading scorer at 12 ppg. Boyle has dished out the most assists for the Lakers this season, averaging three per contest. The Division I UNC-Greensboro transfer is also coming off a career-high in scoring, totaling 17 points against NMU.
Roosevelt also boasts one of the top defenders in the GLIAC, as Marie Outlay comes in averaging 3.3 steals per game, ranking third in the conference. Outlay has recorded five or more steals three times this season and averages 11.7 ppg and 6.8 rpg.
The Lakers are under the direction of fourth-year head coach Deon Thomas, who has a 41-48 record as the team's head coach. Thomas led Roosevelt to the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals last season in the Lakers' first season in the conference.
Roosevelt won the first-ever meeting between the two programs in Chicago, Illinois, last season by a score of 73-67, holding Upper Iowa to a 26.7% mark from 3-point range.
ABOUT LAKE SUPERIOR STATE - Saturday, Dec. 20 at 1 p.m.
This Lakers squad comes into the week searching for its first victory of the season, most recently falling to No. 1 Grand Valley State (Mich.) (8-0, 2-0 GLVC), 89-39, and Davenport (Mich.) (1-6, 1-1 GLIAC), 74-59, to open conference play.
Before taking the court in Dorman Gym, LSSU will host Walsh (Ohio) (7-2) on Dec. 15 at noon before traveling to Illinois Springfield on Dec. 18 at 12:30 p.m.
Lake Superior State is fourth in the GLIAC in blocked shots per game at 3.6. The Lakers also boast the seventh-best scoring offense in the league at 60.1 ppg.
The Lakers are led in scoring and rebounding by Grace Bradford with 14.4 ppg and 10.7 rpg. The senior forward has recorded three double-doubles on the season, most recently in a 16-point, 18-rebound performance against Davenport. She leads the GLIAC in rebounding and is fourth in scoring.
Redshirt junior guard Dara Capaldi is second in both scoring and rebounding at 10.4 ppg and 6.3 rpg. Capaldi recorded her second double-double of the season against Davenport with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Clare Conzelmann is third in scoring for LSSU at 8.6 ppg. She has made multiple 3-pointers in five contests and is tied for fifth in the GLIAC with two 3-pointers made per game. Her 14 made 3-pointers more than triple any other player's total on the team.
Second-year head coach Grace Howrigon leads the Lakers on the sideline, aiming to improve on a 5-23 record in 2024-25. The Lakers defeated Upper Iowa 82-79 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, in Howrigon's first season in charge. Bradford had a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
