Upper Iowa women's basketball set for four games in eight-day stretch

UIU opens GLVC play against Quincy, Lincoln and Missouri S&T before a home contest with Waldorf

FAYETTE, Iowa - The Upper Iowa women's basketball team (2-3) prepares for a four-game stretch over eight days. The Peacocks begin GLVC play this week against Quincy (Ill.) (3-2), Lincoln (Mo.) (2-3), and Missouri S&T (2-2), followed by a game against Waldorf (0-8). 

Quincy is the lone road game of the week at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1. The Peacocks then start a five-game home stretch for the rest of December. Upper Iowa faces Lincoln on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m., Missouri S&T on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. and Waldorf on Monday, Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m.

Fans can access the interactive and digital gameday program any time at UIUPeacocks.com/Programs. The digital programs are available to fans at our games and to those watching at home. QR Codes will be located around the gym to scan with your cell phone's camera, which will link you directly to that game's specific digital gameday program.

TICKET INFORMATION
New this year, tickets for all Peacock home events can be purchased digitally at tickets.uiu.edu. Single game tickets are now available online and at the ticket booth on gameday. If you want to pay in person, both Harms-Eischeid Stadium and Dorman Memorial Gymnasium are now accepting all major credit cards, checks and cash.

LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks went 2-1 this past week, starting with a 59-49 win over Winona State (Minn.) (3-3). Upper Iowa held the Warriors to two points in the fourth quarter, outscoring them 11-2 over the final period. Winona State shot 1-of-7 from the field and had eight turnovers in the final 10 minutes. Ellie Foster led UIU with 19 points while Ava Privet added 16 points. 

Upper Iowa fell to Augustana (S.D.) (2-3), 76-67, on Saturday, with the Vikings outscoring UIU 34-16 in the paint and holding a 46-28 advantage on the glass. Foster was a bright spot for the Peacocks, scoring a career-high 25 points in the loss. 

The team responded well with a win against Clarke (3-5), 80-61. The Peacocks held Clarke to 15 points in the first half, and scored their most points in a quarter this season with 30 in the third. UIU led 64-30 after 30 minutes. 

Privet led the Peacocks with 17 points, while Josie Foster had 15 points and Kendyl Lodermeier scored 14. Bryar Duwe led the team in rebounds and assists with seven each. 

GLVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ellie Foster earned GLVC Player of the Week for her performances against Winona State and Augustana. She averaged 22 points, three rebounds, 1.5 assists, a steal and a block in the two games.

It marked the first GLVC Player of the Week award of her career. She's the first selection for the team since Mia Huberty on Dec. 9, 2024. 

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Ellie Foster is the team leader in points per game, averaging 12.4. She ranks 18th in the conference in scoring and is fifth in 3-pointers made per game with 2.4. 

Privet is also averaging double digits with 10.4 points per game. She is shooting 34.4% from behind the arc, ranking 10th in the conference. The junior ranks 10th in 3-pointers made per game at 2.2. She is second on the team in rebounds per game, averaging 4.2. 

Duwe leads the Peacocks in rebounds per game (4.8) and in assists per game (2.8). She's tied for 13th in the GLVC in assists per game. Sydnee Nelson has an assist per game average of 2.6, ranking 18th in the conference. 

AROUND THE GLVC
Maryville (Mo.) has the most wins in the league with a 5-1 record. The Saints' only loss is to No. 16 Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.). Maryville started GLVC play with a 64-49 win over McKendree (Ill.) (2-2, 0-1 GLVC) on Wednesday. 

There are no unbeaten teams remaining in the GLVC. Rockhurst (3-1), Missouri-St. Louis (3-1) and Quincy (3-2) are the only teams with winning records in the league. Upper Iowa is one of seven teams with two wins.

ABOUT THE HAWKS - Monday, Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m.
Quincy started the season 2-0 with wins over Cedarville (Ohio) (2-2) and Ursuline (Ohio) (2-3). The Hawks have two losses to MIAA foes Missouri Southern (3-3) and Emporia State (Kan.) (3-2), while picking up a win against Purdue Northwest (Ind.) (1-5). 

Junior guard Katey Flynn is the leading scorer for the Hawks, averaging 18 points per game. She scored a season-high 32 points against Ursuline. Senior center Acheampomaa Danso is a force on the inside, averaging 11.4 points per game and five rebounds per game. Senior forward Hampton Williams is averaging 10 points while leading the team in rebounds (6.4 per game) and assists (3.6 per game). 

As a team, Quincy is 71.8 points per game, ranking fourth in the GLVC. The Hawks have the best field goal percentage in the league at 49.2% and the second-best 3-point percentage at 38.4%. 

Ali Schwagmeyer-Belger is in his first season as the head coach. She is a former GLVC Player of the Year for the Hawks and previously served as the head coach at John Wood CC in 2024-25. 

ABOUT THE BLUE TIGERS - Thursday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m.
Lincoln started the season with losses to Thomas More (Ken.) (5-0) and Kentucky Wesleyan (3-2). The Blue Tigers picked up wins against Haskell Indian Nations (Kan.) (4-8) and Harris Stowe (Mo.) (1-5), before losing this past Saturday to Northwest Missouri State (4-3). The Blue Tigers start GLVC play vs. Southwest Baptist (Mo.) (2-3) and Missouri S&T (2-2) before facing the Peacocks.

Senior guard Laini Joseph leads the team with 17.2 points per game, scoring 21 against both Kentucky Wesleyan and Northwest Missouri State. She's also adding 6.2 rebounds per game. Freshman Hallie Williamson has come onto the scene at center, averaging 13.6 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game. 6-foot-2 center Aaliyah Smith is scoring eight points per game with a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game. 

Lincoln is averaging 55.8 points per game as a team, ranking 12th in the GLVC. Defensively, the Blue Tigers are giving up 60 points per game, ranking fourth in the conference. Lincoln ranks fifth in the GLVC in rebounding and third in turnover margin.

Head coach Addae Houston is in his second season with the program. He has a 4-27 record with the team entering the first weekend of December. 

ABOUT THE MINERS - Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m.
Missouri S&T picked up a win against Kentucky Wesleyan to start the season, but lost to Thomas More and Emporia State. The team most recently won, 83-35, against Cottey (Mo.) (0-8). 

The Miners have four players averaging double digits in scoring. Guard Anna Finley is averaging 12 points per game, junior Norah Gum averages 11 points per game, forward Anna Gilbertson averages 10.3 points per game and freshman Ava McCulla averages 10.3 points per game. Gum leads the team in assists, averaging 3.5 per game, while McCulla leads the team in rebounds, averaging eight per game. 

Missouri S&T is scoring 67 points per game while allowing 69.3 points per game, ranking eighth and ninth in the GLVC, respectively. The Miners rank third in the conference in rebounding. 

Kira Carteris is in her sixth season with Missouri S&T. She has a 55-83 record with the program entering the first week of December. 

ABOUT THE WARRIORS - Monday, Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m.
The Warriors are seeking their first win of the season as they enter December. The closest loss for the team was against Clarke, falling by a score of 73-63.

Senior forward Cloey Dmytruk leads the team, averaging 17.4 points per game. The St. Paul, Minnesota native is shooting 39.6% from behind the arc and 42.1% from the field. Australia native Charlotte Mills is second on the team in scoring with 12.0 points per game. 

Head coach Joel Walker is in his first season as the head women's basketball coach. He came to the Warriors after being an assistant coach for Wayne State (Neb.) last season.
