FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa women's basketball (0-2) is set to play in Dorman Gym for the first time this season with three games on its schedule over the next seven days. The Peacocks face Winona State (Minn.) (1-1) for their home opener at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, followed by matchups with Augustana (S.D.) (0-2) on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Clarke (3-3) on Monday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m.

New this year, tickets for all Peacock home events can be purchased digitally at tickets.uiu.edu. Single game tickets are now available online and at the ticket booth on gameday. If you want to pay in person, both Harms-Eischeid Stadium and Dorman Memorial Gymnasium are now accepting all major credit cards, checks and cash.
LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks fell in their first two games of the season this past weekend in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, losing 95-40 against Northern Michigan and 70-30 against Michigan Tech. Ellie Foster led Upper Iowa in scoring against the Wildcats, scoring eight points and hitting two three-pointers. Sydnee Nelson's seven points were the most by a Peacock against the Huskies the following night.
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Foster leads UIU in points per game at 6.5 and three-point field goals made with three. Freshman Kendyl Lodermeier ranks second with six ppg, scoring exactly six points in each of this past weekend's games.
Upper Iowa's leader in rebounding is Bryar Duwe with 4.5 rpg. Duwe also ranks third on the team in scoring at five ppg. Lodermeier is second in the team with three rpg.
Nelson's three assists through the first two games are the most by any Peacock. Amara Retreage leads Upper Iowa with two steals, recording one against each of Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech.
AROUND THE GLVC
14 of the 15 teams across the GLVC tipped off their seasons this past weekend. Quincy (Ill.), Rockhurst (Mo.) and Maryville (Mo.) each went 2-0, while McKendree (Ill.) and Southwest Baptist (Mo.) were victorious in their lone game of the weekend.
The team picked first in the GLVC preseason coaches' poll, Drury (Mo.), fell in its season opener to Ferris State (Mich.), 97-67, in Big Rapids, Michigan.
After making national headlines by defeating Division 1 Missouri, 90-84, in an exhibition game, Maryville produced two victories on the shore of Lake Michigan this past weekend. The Saints defeated Wisconsin-Parkside, 65-61, in Kenosha and Roosevelt (Ill.), 52-38, in Chicago on consecutive days.
Last season's GLVC Tournament champion, Quincy, picked up two wins against GMAC opposition in Kirksville, Missouri. The Hawks took down Cedarville (Ohio), 71-57, before handling Ursuline (Ohio), 78-61, the following day. Upper Iowa will visit Quincy to open GLVC play on Monday, Dec. 2.
ABOUT THE WARRIORS - Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Winona State comes into Tuesday's matchup against the Peacocks with a record of 1-1. The Warriors defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State, 63-60, in their season opener before falling to Northwestern Oklahoma State by a score of 53-52. This was the first time Winona State played in back-to-back one-possession games since Feb. 2022.
As a team, WSU ranks third in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) in points allowed per game at 56.5. The Warriors are also top five in the conference in offensive rebounds per game at 15.
Senior forward Megan Schuman leads Winona State in scoring with 11 ppg and ranks second in rebounding with six rpg. Schuman scored 13 points and secured 10 rebounds against SE Oklahoma State in the season opener.
Junior guard Vivica Bretton's 9.5 ppg is the second-most on the team. Bretton leads Winona State with nine assists through two games and is third on the team in rebounding with 5.0 rpg.
Winona State is led in rebounding by Hailey Markworth at 7.5 rpg. Markworth is third on the team in scoring at eight ppg. When the Warriors faced Upper Iowa in Winona last season, Markworth tallied a career-high 31 points, leading WSU to an 82-69 home win over their former NSIC rivals.
Ana Wurtz is in her fourth season as the head coach of the Winona State women's basketball program. The Warriors are 33-53 under her leadership, including a 2-1 mark against the Peacocks. Wurtz played for WSU from 2006-10 and has filled numerous roles in the women's basketball program since graduation before taking over the head coaching job in 2022.
ABOUT THE VIKINGS - Saturday at 1 p.m.
Augustana dropped two home games this past weekend to begin its 2025-26 campaign. The Vikings fell 86-84 in a tight contest to Missouri Southern before a fourth-quarter comeback bid came up short in a 65-58 loss to Central Missouri. The Vikings will face off against Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday in Sioux Falls ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Peacocks.
Through two games, the Vikings have the fifth-best scoring offense in the NSIC, averaging 71 ppg. Augustana is also top five in three-point field goals made per game, converting on 16 attempts this past weekend.
Junior guard Payton Hardy leads the Vikings in scoring with 17.0 ppg, rebounding with 7.5 rpg and steals with 3.0 spg. She ranks 10th in the NSIC in ppg and third in the league in spg. Hardy tallied a career-high 20 points in the Vikings' loss to Missouri Southern.
Isabelle Sannah ranks second on the team in three different categories, recording 12.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 2.5 spg this season. She recorded her second career double-double in the season opener against the Lions.
The assist leader through the opening weekend for the Vikings is Maliyah Elliott, as the junior recorded six assists, including four against Missouri Southern. Elliott also matches Hardy for the most three-pointers made on the team with four.
Second-year head coach Nate Vogel leads the Vikings on the sideline, looking to improve on a 6-22 record in 2024-25. Vogel's squad fell to the Peacocks last November, 79-58, as Ava Privet scored a career-high 20 points in the Elmen Center.
ABOUT THE PRIDE - Monday at 2 p.m.
Clarke will face off against Upper Iowa on Nov. 24 inside Dorman Gym. Currently 3-3 after falling to Missouri Baptist, 77-66, on Saturday, the Pride will have two more contests against Grand View and Peru State before arriving in Fayette.
Monday's game will be the second matchup between Upper Iowa and Clarke, the Peacocks having defeated the Pride, 74-69, in Nov. 2017.
Junior Zoe Kennedy leads Clarke in scoring with 19.3 ppg. Kennedy has connected on 45.3% of her attempts from the field and has knocked down 15 three-pointers this season. She also averages a team-best 9.0 rpg, 5.8 apg and 1.7 spg.
Second in scoring for the Pride is Hailey Walters with 12.2 ppg. Walters recorded a season-high 19 points in a loss to Doane (Neb.). Reese Ryan has been another key contributor for Clarke, averaging 9.2 ppg and hauling in the second-most rebounds at a clip of 6.8 rpg.
Adam Hocking brings the Pride to Dorman Gym in the midst of his third season as head coach of Clarke women's basketball. Hocking is 44-23 heading into this weekend, including a 30-2 mark in his first season with the program.
