For the third straight year, the Peacock Athletics Department will celebrate this year's Hall of Fame inductions as an integral piece of Upper Iowa University's Homecoming Week as part of the Homecoming Ball "Night of the Peacocks" on Oct. 9.
 
Four Peacocks will be inducted into the UIU Athletics Hall of Fame including Brian Black (2006), Carl Broghammer (2014), Don Erickson (1991), and Whitney (Kieffer) Hopp (2015). Black, who will be accepting the honor by video, along with Broghammer and Hopp will all be inducted as athletes, while Erickson will enter the honored hall as a coach.
 
Black, a two-time Florida High School State Champion at Oviedo, was a three-time NCAA National Qualifier, a two-time NCAA Division III All-American, and a two-time Academic All-American with the Peacock men's wrestling team.
 
Broghammer, who still serves as an assistant coach with the Peacock men's wrestling team, was a three-time NCAA Division II All-American placing 3^rd in the nation three times and a four-time Academic All-American. His 142 career victories are the most in program history and led to his selection as the Northern Sun Conference Wrestler of the Year as a senior in 2014.
 
Erickson played baseball for the Peacocks during the 1988-91 seasons and recently retired after more than 30 years of teaching and coaching at Reavis High School in Illinois. He earned a place in the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association's Hall of Fame in 2016. Erickson has led his teams to 565 victories, 10 conference championships and 3 regional titles and was named the SICA/SSC Coach of the Year seven times.
 
Hopp is Upper Iowa's all-time points leader in women's basketball with 1,748 points. She also ranks sixth all-time in rebounding with 675 in her 108 starts in Peacock blue and white. A two-time All-NSIC performer and All-NSIC Defensive Team selection, she became the fastest Peacock to reach the 1,000-point milestone early in her junior season.
 
The Homecoming Ball "Night of the Peacocks" will once again highlight this year's Homecoming celebrations, which run from Oct. 5-11 at Upper Iowa. The Homecoming Ball will begin with a cocktail reception at 5 p.m. on Friday night, Oct. 9. The Athletics Hall of Fame Induction will be featured throughout the dinner program. This year's celebration, themed "Saddle Up, Peacocks!" features a full week of alumni gatherings, campus traditions, athletic events, social activities and opportunities to reconnect with your Peacock family. The athletic contests during Homecoming Week include three volleyball matches in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evenings, two women's and men's soccer double headers on Wednesday and Sunday and the Hall of Fame football game on Saturday. All of the soccer and football action will occur on Harms Family Field in Harms-Eischeid Stadium.
 
On Saturday, Oct. 10, following the Alumni Awards and Honor Class Brunch and the Homecoming Parade, the UIU football team will line up against Truman State University at 1 p.m. All Hall of Fame members in attendance at Saturday's football game will be recognized on the field at halftime.
