Davison takes eighth at Flyers Fall Intercollegiate Tournament

Upper Iowa finishes ninth as a team after rounds of 316 (+28), 307 (+19) and 327 (+39)

LEMONT, Ill. - Upper Iowa's Owen Davison placed eighth at the three-round Lewis Flyers Fall Intercollegiate. The graduate shot 228 (+12) at the par-72 Cog Hill Golf and Country Club.

The Peacocks finished the tournament in ninth place with a total of 950 (+86). UIU's second round score was 307 (+19), the second-best by any team that round. The Peacocks were in a three-way tie for fourth heading into the final round. 

Davison finished with rounds of 78 (+6), 74 (+2) and 76 (+4). He totaled 10 birdies, tying for the second most by any golfer at the tournament. Davison was also two under par on par fives, tying for the seventh best score by any golfer. His Tuesday highlight was an eagle on hole 15. 

The graduate's two over par round tied for his second-lowest this season behind the 67 (-3) he shot at The Mule to open the season. The eighth place finish is his best this season and the third best of his career. 

Christian Burkhart tied for 39th with a total of 240 (+24) after rounds of 79 (+7), 75 (+3) and 86 (+14). He totaled eight birdies, tying for the 12th most by any golfer. He also had an eagle in round one on hole five. 

Joseph Grau tied for 44th shooting 242 (+26). He had the best first round score for the Peacocks at 77 (+5) then followed it up with an 84 (+12) and an 81 (+9). Grau had the most pars for the team with 29.

William Benedict tied for 50th with a total of 245 (+29). He shot 74 (+2) in the second round, marking his second-lowest round of the season. Ethan Cahalan tied for 68th shooting 253 (+37). The freshman had an eagle in round two, giving the Peacocks three total as a team over the weekend. 

Wisconsin-Parkside won the tournament with a total of 900 (+36). The Rangers had the top two team scores of the tournament with a 294 (+6) in round one and a 300 (+12) in round three. Trine (Ind.) was 16 strokes behind in second place.

Trine's Garrett James, Wisconsin Parkside's Shane Stanley and Northern Michigan's Tyler Annala tied for first shooting 221 (+5). Both Wisconsin-Parkside and Trine had three golfers in the top 10.

Upper Iowa has a week off before finishing the fall season at the Bearcat Dual Gender on Oct. 20-21. The tournament takes place at Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville, Ill.
