Box Score St. Louis, Mo. – Upper Iowa men's soccer (4-9-2, 3-7-2 GLVC) scored a late goal during the 88th minute to win, 1-0, against Maryville (Mo.) (7-6-2, 6-5-1 GLVC) on Sunday. Timur Nagy netted his second goal of the weekend and his fifth of the season.
On the game winning goal, Abraham Navarro took the ball from the right side of the pitch and placed it ahead of Arnas Kurakinas, who was running toward the right-side net. Kurakinas then set up Nagy in front of the net and he kicked the ball in off his left foot toward the upper right side of the goal.
The Peacocks put up 11 shots compared to the Saints' 17. Navarro and Alejandro Sanchez each recorded three shots. Dexter Garrett, Nikola Momcilovic, Eduardo Gomez Montt, and Nagy each had one shot on the afternoon.
Kurakinas tallied the lone assist, while Noah Nymark-Pedersen made three saves.
UIU committed fewer fouls with eight compared to the Saints' 15 and had fewer corner kicks, 5-1.
Upper Iowa will wrap up the regular season next week at home, hosting McKendree (Ill.) (7-4-4, 7-2-3 GLVC) on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and Illinois-Springfield (2-10-3, 1-9-2 GLVC) on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
