FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa women's cross-country will compete in the Skyhawk Invite on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 10 a.m. in Dixon, Illinois. The meet is hosted by Sauk Valley Community College and will take place at their cross-country course.
LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks placed 16th overall in the 54th St. Olaf Invitational back on Sept. 20th. This was the team's first 6K of the season.
Eryn Sabelka was the first UIU runner to cross the finish line with a time of 27:59.2. Her teammate Katie Kraft finished the race after her with a time of 28:06.4.
Lisbeth Trinidad-Valerio (33:36.7), Cheyanna Thompson-Williams (35:56.0) and Rio Johnson (41:02.4) also competed in the invite.
ABOUT THE INVITATIONAL
The meet is located on the Sauk Valley campus between Sterling and Dixon on Route Two. The invite is a 5K race, and the top teams receive a plaque, while the top 15 runners receive a t-shirt.
2024 SKYHAWK INVITATIONAL
Upper Iowa placed 5th with 131 points at the invite last year. Sabelka placed 15th with a time of 23:12, while Jaydin Dettman finished right behind her with a time of 24:00.0. Johnson had a career personal best time of 29:46.0.
Grand Rapids (Mich.) with 25 points, took home first place. Carl Sandburg (Ill.) took second with 59, and Beloit (Wis.) took third with 74. Grand Rapids had the top three fastest runners: Elicia Lund placed first with a time of 20:21.0, Anna Tubbergen placed second with a time of 20:23.0 and Olivia Lemke placed third with a time of 20:46.0.

The Peacocks will wrap up their regular season on Saturday, Oct. 11, by competing in the Trojan Invitational at the HLCU XC hosted by Hannibal-Lagrange (Mo.).
