FAYETTE, Iowa - The Lincoln Blue Tigers (1-7-3, 1-7-2 GLVC) scored two goals in the second half to defeat the Peacock women's soccer team (3-9-2, 1-8-1 GLVC) at Harms-Eischeid Stadium on Sunday. Upper Iowa was unable to find the net, despite totaling 13 shots on the day.
After a scoreless first half, Lincoln struck early in the second half, 2:53 into it. Cierra Bradley scored on the right side of the net off an assist from Ivanna Faria. In the 65th minute, Faria put in a goal on a high arcing shot to the back right of the net.
Midfielder Aeryn Hatico led the Peacocks with three shots on goal. Junior Jessica Ancheta totaled three shots with two on goal while playing all 90 minutes. Haylie Hutchinson and Giovanna Alexa Garcia both had two shots, with Alexa Garcia having one on goal.
Natalie Lima and Mealanie Mejia both played all 90 minutes with a shot on goal. Eve Russell also had a shot on goal. Stephany Castillo and Myriah Roybal both played 90 minutes. Avery Harding totaled seven saves at goalkeeper for the Peacocks.
Lincoln outshot Upper Iowa 15-13 in the contest, led by Faria with four shots. Lincoln's goalkeeper Michelle Granja made nine saves. UIU had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks, with a 5-1 advantage in the second half.
Upper Iowa has its final regular-season road trip of the year next week against Missouri-St. Louis (8-3-2, 7-1-2 GLVC) and Maryville (Mo.) (8-1-4, 6-1-3 GLVC). The Peacocks play the Tritons at 12:30 p.m. on Friday and the Saints at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
