SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Upper Iowa women's soccer (3-7-2, 1-6-1 GLVC) fell to Drury (Mo.) (6-2-3, 5-1-3 GLVC) on Sunday, 2-0. The Panthers controlled the game and outshot the Peacocks, 19-2.
Jessica Ancheta had UIU's only shot on goal in the game. Freshman Rhea Buchanan had a first-half shot as well. Buchanan, Stephany Castillo, Natalie Lima and Meghan Zwicker played all 90 minutes.
Freshman Avery Harding totaled 10 saves, getting her second career start at goalkeeper. She had six saves to shut out the Panthers in the first half.
Drury scored the first goal of the game in the 67th minute. Holland Hawkins found the net after an assist by Kadence Kermpges. Grace Pohl scored in the 85th minute for the 2-0 advantage.
The Panthers had 10 corner kicks compared to only one for the Peacocks, which came in the second half. Drury had seven corner kicks in the first half. DU had 10 fouls while UIU had seven fouls.
Upper Iowa is back in action at home against Missouri S&T on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. The Peacocks then face Lincoln (Mo.) on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 12 p.m.
