FLOURISING IN FAYETTE… The Peacocks have faired very well at home this season as they have posted a 4-1 record at Dorman Memorial Gymnasium. UIU's home games have been won by an average of 31.8 points, which includes a win against UMSL where the Peacocks allowed only 44 points and a double overtime victory over Quincy.
ON THE RISE… Kayla Bohr has scored in double figures for five consecutive games, and she is coming off her best weekend of the season. Bohr scored a career-high 23 points in UIU's win over Truman State as she shot 7-15 from the floor while converting all nine of her free throw attempts. She followed that up with a 19-point performance against Quincy, where she shot 6-8 at the charity stripe, recorded three rebounds, and added one steal and one block. Bohr has thrived at the line all season as she leads the GLVC in free throw percentage, on 36-41 shooting (87.8%).
HIGH-SCORING HUBERTY… The Peacocks also field another GLVC leader, as
Mia Huberty has scored a conference leading 19.7 points per game. She scored at least 25-points for the sixth time this past weekend, as she dropped 26 points on 9-15 shooting, while going 3-7 from three-point range against Truman State. She added seven rebounds, and also ranks 12th in the conference with an average of 6.6 rebounds per game.
SIXTH MAN SENSATION… Lindsey Davis matched her career-high in UIU's most recent game against Quincy where she recorded 18 points on 7-13 shooting while converting 4-8 of her shots from beyond the arc. Davis has also been dominant on her home floor, as she scored 18 points against Northland, 16 against Quincy, and 16 against Judson while shooting a perfect 4-4 from three-point range. She has averaged 7.1 points per game on the year, improving that total to 11.6 points per game while at home.
OTHER NOTABLE JANUARY PERFORMANCES…
- Anna Soler 16-points, 10-rebounds performance on 6-8 shooting vs. Missouri-St. Louis
- Ava Privet 14 points on 4-6 three-point shooting, recorded four assists, three rebounds, two blocks and one steal at Lewis
- Helen Staley 14 points on 7-14 shooting, added nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks at Lewis
- Sydnee Nelson 12 points on 4-5 three-point shooting at Maryville
PEACOCK SEASON HIGHS…
HIGHLIGHTING THE HAWKS… Rockhurst has gone 5-10 on the season, with a 3-6 mark in the GLVC. The Hawks are most productive in the paint as they have two players that rank within the top ten in rebounds per game within the conference. They are led by fifth year Keegan Sullivan as she is averaging 14.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Sullivan has recorded six double doubles on the season, which includes a season-high 24 points and 15 rebounds against William Jewell. Alongside her in the frontcourt is senior, Rebeca Garcia who has averaged 10.7 points per game on 49.1% shooting while hauling in 7.2 rebounds per game. She has added 1.1 steals and her 1.7 blocks per game rank second in the GLVC. Garcia has secured at least five boards in all fifteen games, and her season has been highlighted by a 15-point, 10-rebound game against McKendree where she shot 7-8 from the floor. Junior Macie Conway ranks second on the team with 11.2 points per game while adding 2.1 rebounds per game. She is coming off a 12-point game against Illinois-Springfield where she shot 4-5 from three.
CLASH WITH THE CARDINALS… William Jewell has posted a 4-11 record, with a 2-7 mark in conference play. Junior Ayden Shannon ranks sixth in the GLVC with 16.2 points per game, while shooting 40.7% from the field and 32.4% from three-point range. She has scored 20+ points seven times this season and she is coming off a 21-point performance against Missouri S&T, where she shot 4-8 from beyond the arc. Shannon added consecutive 23-point games against Northwest Missouri State and Wayne State, while shooting 18-32 between the two games. Senior Kate Hillyer has added 11.6 points per game and she has converted 50-60 (83.3%) of her free throws on the year. She has hauled in 4.1 rebounds per game and she scored a season-high 20 points on 7-11 shooting against Ottawa, Kan.
