Upper Iowa men's basketball traveled to Kirksville, Mo. to take on Truman State in a GLVC affair. The Peacocks picked up a 73-70 win and collected their fifth conference win on the season, improving to 11-5 (5-3 GLVC).

Nick Reid netted a game-high 33 points, going 5-9 beyond the arc, and nabbed ten rebounds.
Noah King chipped in 18 points, followed by
Caleb Delzell with 13.
Kyle Hrncir added eight rebounds, while Delzell rejected three shots.Â

UIU trailed 10-2 to start the game and faced their largest deficit of 10 points (20-10) with 11:34 left in the first half. However, a strong run sparked the team as Reid scored eight points in an 11-0 rally, while
Caleb Delzell added a three-pointer to fuel the momentum for their first lead of the game (21-20).

Caleb Delzell near the end of the first session gave the Peacocks a slim 35-32 lead at the half. After the first 20 minutes, the team shot 38% from the field compared to Truman State's 44%. Upper Iowa netted 5-14 beyond the arc, while the Bulldogs converted 15% (2-13).

The Peacocks started the second half on a 5-0 run to spring out to a 40-32 advantage. They saw their largest lead of the game of 13 (63-50) with just over seven minutes to play in the second half. The Bulldogs instigated a 10-2 run at the five-minute mark to close the gap and trail 70-67 with 46 seconds left.Â

A Truman State foul put Reid on the line where he sank both free throws to put the team ahead 72-67. The Bulldogs kept themselves in the contest with a long-range shot from the top of the key, trimming the lead to two points.Â

A Peacock foul with five seconds left put Truman State at the charity stripe for bonus throws, but a miss gave Upper Iowa the ball back and a quick foul sent them back to the line.Â

Delzell missed his first attempt at the line, but made the second to put the Peacocks up by three. A desperation three was no good from the Bulldogs, as Upper Iowa escaped Truman State on the road.Â

Upper Iowa capitalized on offensive rebounds that turned into second-chance points. They hauled in 16 offensive rebounds and put up 15 second-chance points.Â
