Peacocks Take Over the Second Half in Draw with Bulldogs

The Peacocks battled it out with the Truman State Bulldogs at Harms-Eischeid Stadium, finishing the game in a 1-1 tie.

The Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders in their offense as they had many great opportunities to score early in the game. Quinn Nauman fired the team's first shot on goal in the 11th minute, which was saved by junior Isabelle Wagner. Less than a minute later, Wagner deflected a cross away from the goal, which was immediately fielded by TSU. With Wagner on the ground, the Bulldogs attempted an open shot on goal, but sophomore Maile Kehano made a phenomenal deflection inches from the goal line, picking up a team save.

Freshman Samantha Most recorded her first shot on goal in the 12th minute right down the middle which was saved by Damron Tatumn. Wagner added her second save in the 14th, but the Bulldogs were able to take the lead on a 21st minute goal by Nauman. Kehano attempted to tie the game right before halftime, but her shot was deflected away, and the Peacocks would enter the locker room down 1-0.

Wagner opened the second half by recording her fourth save of the game which would ignite the Peacocks offense. Following the save, UIU attempted a lob downfield, which was fielded by freshman Jordan Goldstein, and she made a great pass to Most who's shot on goal found the back of the net to tie the game. Goldstein picked up her third assist of the season, while Most's goal would be the first of her collegiate career. Most continued to dominate the second half, beating the Truman State defense on numerous occasions, where she added shots on goal in the 57th and 70th minutes. She finished the day with seven total shots, four of which were on target, and of course, one goal.

The Peacocks put together a much better second half, as they had 11 shots to Truman State's two, as well as four shots on goal to TSU's one. Kehano was able to add her second shot on goal and the final one of the game in the 86th minute, but Tatumn recorded the save, concluding the game in a 1-1 tie.

The Peacocks will conclude their homestand against the Quincy Hawks this Sunday, Sept. 29 at noon.
