The Peacocks dropped to the St. Cloud State Huskies on the road by a score of 7-2, closing out the non-conference season.
The Huskies jumped to an early lead with an eighth minute goal, which was scored by Owen Worsdell. Upper Iowa was able to tie the game in the 19
th minute as freshman
Julian Mesen's first shot of his collegiate career found the back of the net on an assist from seniors
Preston Price and
Nozomu Kamei. St. Cloud State responded with back-to-back goals in the 20
th and 21
st minute and they would take a 4-1 lead early into the second half.
Junior
Emir Basar continued to shine for Upper Iowa with his second goal of the season in the 51
st minute, which came on his first shot of the game. The Huskies added a goal in the 55
th minute and Philip Caputo was able to ice the game with a pair of goals in the 58
th minute, to close out a three-goal, three-assist performance for St. Cloud State.
The Peacocks will stay on the road as they travel to Romeoville, Ill. to face Lewis on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. They will return home two days later as they host Indianapolis on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2:30 p.m.
