Upper Iowa began their GLVC season with a 1-1 tie on the road against the Lewis Flyers.
The Peacocks were firing on all cylinders to start the game as junior

Emir Basar fired a strike on target at the four-minute mark. UIU then jumped to an early 1-0 lead as fifth year
Thomas Walle's first shot of the game found the back of the net, which came on an assist from Rodriguez. The Flyers had a chance to respond in the 20
th minute with a shot on target, but Junior
JJ Gonzalez-Hayes picked up his first save of the day and he added another in the 39
th minute.
Gonzalez-Hayes continued to thrive in the second half, as he recorded consecutive saves in the 56
th minute. The Flyers were able to take advantage of a Peacock foul in the 59
th minute, as Arturs Gorodnickis scored to tie the game at 1-1. The Flyers added seven more shot attempts from the 74
th-83
rd minute, and their lone shot on target was caught by Gonzalez-Hayes to give him five saves on the day. Basar recorded his second shot on target in the 89
th minute, but it was saved by goalkeeper Sebastian Doppelhofer, which concluded the game on a 1-1 tie.
The Peacocks will travel to return to Fayette to take on Indianapolis on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2:30 p.m.
