Peacock Women's Basketball Showcases 2024-25 Recruiting Class

Peacock women's basketball has announced their commits for the 2024-25 season, welcoming five athletes to next year's roster.

Lindsey Davis comes to Upper Iowa for her freshman year after a standout career at Nodaway Valley HS. Davis became the school's all-time leading scorer in a career-high 44-point performance, accumulating 1,815 career points. She averaged 25.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 4.7 steals and 1.3 blocks per game as a junior, earning All-Conference and All-State honors.

"Lindsey is a three-level scorer that put together some historical numbers in Iowa High School Basketball," stated Head Coach Justin Maass. "She led her team to historical heights all while setting records and being recognized as an Iowa All-State player. When you watch Lindsey is clear that she is passionate about the game and leaves it all on the court. Peacocks fans will love seeing her light it up from behind the arc."

Lilly Pepper joins the Peacock basketball program after spending four years at Illinois College and this past season at Fort Lewis. While at Illinois College, Pepper averaged 13.1 points on 56.8% shooting from the floor and 8.9 rebounds per game. She appeared in 63 games with 58 starts and was named Midwest First Team All-Conference in 2021-22. Pepper then appeared in five games for Fort Lewis in 2023-24 as her season was cut short due to injury. She averaged 9.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 53.3% from the floor and 82.4% from the charity stripe.

"Lilly is a great transfer that has proven that she can contribute at a high level at both the Division 2 and Division 3 level," noted Maass. "Lilly is a well-rounded threat on the offensive end that can score in the post and create for others. Her toughness and rebounding tenacity will also be an asset for us on the defensive end."

The Peacocks welcome Laney Pilcher to the program, after she spent her freshman season at Iowa Central CC. Pilcher appeared in 30 games making 28 starts, averaging a team-high 17.0 points per game on very efficient shooting (44.7% FG | 37.5% 3PT | 86.4% FT). Pilcher added 5.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game and she was a standout on the defensive end averaging 2.7 steals per game, which are the third most in school history. For her efforts on both ends of the floor, Pilcher garnered ICCAC First Team All-Region honors.

"Laney is well rounded guard that had a great freshman year at Iowa Central," added Maass. "She comes to us with the ability to score at all three levels and the ability to do so efficiently. Laney stepped into a big role at Iowa Central and helped lead them to a great season. It is always great to add a local player that the community will recognize."

Brooke Lechleitner transfers to UIU for her junior, after spending her sophomore season at Texas A&M- Kingsville and freshman year at Central Connecticut State. Lechleitner recorded 1,319 points during her high school career for Lake Holcombe HS in Conrath, Wis. and she was named a finalist for the Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Year. Lechleitner was also named to the Chippewa Valley All Area-First Team and Rusk County All-Area First Team during all four years of her high school career.

"Brooke is a long and athletic forward that will fit right in with our fast-paced style," noted Maass. "She is very versatile on the defensive end with the ability to guard multiple positions. Offensively, Brooke will be able to play in the paint and on the perimeter. Peacock fans will love her ability to run in transition withing our system."

Stephanie Cink joins the Peacocks for her freshman season after a successful career at St. Clair HS. Cink accumulated over 1,000 points throughout her career, averaging 18.0 points and 3.0 assists per game. She garnered All-Conference honors for three consecutive seasons while becoming the school's all-time leader in three point field goals.

"Steph is a true competitor that will get after it for every second she is on the floor," claimed Maass. "She is a sharpshooter that shot extremely well from the 3-pt line throughout her high school career. Steph is the type of player that will take on any role to help her teammates succeed while helping her team to victory."

Upper Iowa is coming off their most successful season since 2001-02, where they posted a 15-13 record while going 11-11 in GLVC action.
