Peacock baseball was defeated by the Miners in the final game of the series in a 16-6 decision (8 INN). Upper Iowa tallied 10 hits on the day, led by
Ethan Sawyer and
Gunnar Wicklund with two apiece, including one home run each.
Brayden Deering (0-1) started on the mound for the Peacocks, allowing three hits and four earned runs.
Missouri S&T jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after collecting four runs in the first inning and another three in the second.
The Peacocks retaliated with five runs of their own in the third frame behind seven hits.
Justin Baehler and
Brock Zimmer both singled to get on base, followed by a long bomb from Sawyer, scoring the first three.
Bryce Hall, Wicklund and
Steve Marhefke each knocked a single to get on base.
Cael Luzum tattooed a ball down the right side of the diamond, bringing home an additional two, trailing the home team 7-5 by the end of the inning.
The Miners tacked on an additional nine runs to their total by the eighth inning in comparison to the Peacocks who brought around one, outscoring them by ten runs.
UIU's sixth run of the contest came in the seventh inning on a solo home run from Wicklund.
The Peacocks are back on their home field next weekend as they take on the Lewis Flyers on Thursday, Apr. 12 through Sunday, Apr. 14.
