Upper Iowa baseball went head-to-head with Lewis for the first time in five years on Friday afternoon, falling by a score of 13-1 in seven innings. The Flyers recorded 17 hits on the day while the Peacocks mustered seven.
Brock Zimmer and
Ethan Sawyer led UIU on offense with two hits apiece.
The Flyers jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning behind two home runs. Upper Iowa cut into the lead in the bottom of the second inning after a double to right field from
Justin Baehler scored one run. The home team tallied three of their seven hits in the second frame.
Lewis notched another three runs across the third and fourth innings, extending their lead to 5-1. They saw seven additional runs come through in the sixth inning behind six hits, commanding a 12-1 advantage over Upper Iowa. They scored one more run in the top of the seventh to seal their 13-1 victory in Fayette.
Brady Stevens started on the mound for the Peacocks, enduring 4.2 innings with seven strikeouts to his name. He allowed five earned runs and walked two batters.

The Peacocks are back on Robertson Woods Field tomorrow for a double header against the Flyers with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
